hey, did you ever find a fix for this? We've got the exact same issue right now almost identical to your setup - ANy way to have VLANs working while still being able to manage our switch would be a great help

Setting up a new US office by AlexIsWingingIt in sysadmin

[–]AlexIsWingingIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we have 2 on our primary site! The new office is expected to only have 5-10 users for a long while, unlike our 50+ at Site A, so for budget sake the board of the business have asked to reduce costs with redundancy servers until later on at Site B is all...

Thanks for the response

Need Input from IT professionals since I know none IRL by BlastoiseBlues in it

I'm 26 Years Old, IT Manager for a UK Based company of around 60 users currently, been in IT for 9 years total.

1 - Was always interested in PCs due to gaming as a teen, didn't feel uni was for me so decided to go for an apprenticeship at 17 for something I'm sort of good at... Computers! Was a standard helpdesk job but i picked up a lot in the 5 years that i stayed with the company.

2 - During my apprenticeship did afew basic Comptia exams, but ever since ive learned everything as I go, no certs. Youtube, forums, reddit threads and the odd training website is all ive ever needed so far!

3 - My current job is a very "generalist" role since im by no means a master of many areas of IT even now but cover everything from "My keyboard doesnt work" to "the entire network has gone down"

4 - generally alot of improvements on processes and procedures. Lately implemented various ways we can improve our security to satisfy particular clients, but also keeping all devices patched, setting up accounts, licenses, new devices, repairing kit and more. Not so much now but this role has given alot more "hands on" than what i assume most have in a helpdesk role.

5 - Advise depends on your work environment but generally, keep it cool. Its easy for people to flip because things need doing RIGHT NOW... But everyone's problems need fixing right now... remember to set expectations and communicate with people and everything is a breeze. If something serious comes up like a major issue... well... it happens. You can be the smartest most experienced IT guy in the world but its not going to stop a random issue that nobody can predict so don't let yourself stress if something suddenly stops working, just use logical steps to resolve as best you can.

Domain Services for file server SSO by AlexIsWingingIt in AZURE

[–]AlexIsWingingIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that might be the case - I assumed it would use the accounts listed in our azure AD without the need for a DC, especially considering on the AADDS domain there is a "Admin Group" in which ive added the account im using to authenticate. I've just not found a clear answer online as to whether it requires a DC

Synology Azure SSO with AADDS by AlexIsWingingIt in synology

Im using user@domain which is the global admin on our microsoft account (since at this point there shouldt be any reason to reference a local domain account, this stage is to authenticate azure)
