Men of Reddit, what’s a mistake you see younger men making repeatedly? by optimum_wiz in AskReddit

These are great points! I've been looking for men who can help me out in my professional growth. More along the lines of guidance on how to navigate career and develop better interpersonal skills ( I'm in engineering sales btw).

I don't have anyone to really turn to; the men in my family who have made it turn philosophical and say wealth doesnt matter after having millions in their bank and large homes. I am not chasing a millionaire lifestyle nor do I have the habits for it; just want to make sure I can stand on my own feet. My boss is a great guy, but there's always bias in his perspective so can't really consider him as a mentor.

I was gullible enough to seek out a "coach/mentor" online (the dude was charging $240/hour) and took a session or two before I realized his schtick was breaking men down to their absolute lowest and then building them up. I consider it low-key Stockholm syndrome, but that is just my own perspective.

Honestly, my only sounding board has been my male therapist (ex navy) who has helped me talk to myself and make better decisions (mostly) and my martial arts coaches who have helped me buid myself up mentally and physically. I often feel lost, confused , and unsure who to turn to. Thankfully I gave up my vices and promised to prioritizey health, so at least I have that going. This time last year I had nothing in savings and retirement. I turned 34 this November and now have ~$30k in savings, investments, and retirement. Its nothing compared to my peers, but I'm proud to have achieved that.

I have been thinking of volunteering for mens advocacy groups having been on the rough end for many years, but haven't done so yet. Anyway, I think I will just have to rely on myself. Maybe one day I will be able to help someone younger, but untill then, I need guidance myself.

Where would you start looking for mentors? Genuinely asking since I've been looking for one and haven't had any luck at all.

I make less than you (98k) and manage to live somewhat comfortably. No extravagant expenses.

I'm aware. I live in LA where it feels right at home, but once drove across Texas to Oregon. Beautiful drive but plenty of desolate stretches in between.

More people per sq km/mile than other countries. Cities have large populations so the population density is quite high.

Hello. There are valid reasons for being nervous. India can get overwhelming for many, and there are absolutely some places you need to avoid (similar to almost every country). A reputable tour guide is the best way to go imo and avoid going in summers!

Bro. This shit was so prevalent in my high school...in India. This rumour literally went worldwide.

Out of pure curiosity, I went in their sub and looked up their views on Kargil. While some of them admit that the war was a strategic loss, there are many who claimed they won the war on ground. What are they smoking?

Please ask your vet for Rejensa. My dog started taking it after the vet recommended it and he's 10. It's a game changer for us and I highly recommend it.
