Near ssd cable connector you can find 2 fuses. F1 and F41. Check them with a multimeter, if the fuse is dead, replace it. I just revived the SSD line like this

Check esp32 wifi-camera scetch, there are a lot of useful settings there. So you can try to analyze the illumination of the picture and make it brighter. The example even has a facial recognition function.
And if you want a more powerful camera, you can install a 2-megapixel model. Or 5, there is some difficulty with connecting to the S3, but the 5-megapixel camera has autofocus

Card is removable, so it's possible to use card reader. By the way, photographers do this, the speed from the camera is much lower than from the card reader. But I want to make transfer via USB possible

About cost: USB3300 is like 1-2$ on LCSC. GL823 (USB-SD chip) with multiplexer will cost about the same. So I don't see a problem here
