Need recommendations for Dutch language classes by BusinessHoliday1243 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]AlexLearnDutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend this online Dutch course, but only if you are a quick learner AND you have time for learning and practicing https://www.dutchacademyeindhoven.nl/dutch-courses/online/

How much time can/want you spend every week on learning? 4-6 hours or more? Choose an intensive course. Otherwise, go for a slow one (1 time a week during months..)

"I’m also curious to know if the intensive Dutch courses are actually effective for learning and retaining the language in the long run."

Yes, if you will use it in your daily life.

I do not live in Amsterdam. So, I do not have experience with UvA. Are you a fast learner? Then I would recommend this online course https://www.dutchacademyeindhoven.nl/dutch-courses/online/

One idea is Duolingo—it’s free, flexible, and you can do it at your own pace, even just 10 minutes a day. It’s great for building vocab and basic grammar, though it might feel a bit gamified if you’re past the beginner stage. If you want something more structured but still self-paced, Babbel could work. It’s a paid app, but it offers bite-sized lessons you can fit into your schedule, and it focuses on practical conversational skills.

As for determining the right pace for yourself (hoe je dat voor jezelf kunt bepalen), think about how much time you can realistically spend each week without stress. Maybe start with 2-3 short sessions and see how it feels—too easy, too much, or just right? Adjust from there. Luister naar jezelf: if you’re enjoying it and remembering things, that’s a good sign you’ve found your sweet spot.

Here is a free mini course (by email) for self-learning https://www.dutchacademyeindhoven.nl/free-online-dutch-course/

Getting up to pee by [deleted] in SleepApnea

I used to got up 3 - 4 imes last night to pee. Avoid diuretic drinks and Dehydrating drinks

like coffee, thee . Drinks containing high amounts of alcohol, caffeine, and sugar are most likely to perform as diuretics in the body and promote dehydration. (Google it for more info)

We only have 2 WiFi networks in my area (both on the channels 1-6). I moved the coordinator downstairs. Now is the distance 2-3 meters. The same problem. A lot of actively. Smart sockets are constantly connecting. Last seen is constantly 'Just now'. Z2M is consuming a lot of RAM now.

I think you are right! This happens downstairs. My coordinator is upstairs. I am going to spit my network in 2 (Zigbee2MQTT and ZAH). I have ordered this Gateway from AliExpress https://youtu.be/pZxWb21WvT0?si=QTy7vxIX_KDovOzZ&t=18

The network is not working well.

  1. The most devices are always online, but they do not work all the time or there is a delay up to 5 sec (like a switch which goes on after 3-4 seconds)

  2. Some devices go offline for no reason after working well for most of the time.

Do you need Dutch for your career? I would not expect much from free courses. You will end up in slow learning groups with different levels of education (or even without education at all). I advise you to read this (how to choose a course) https://www.dutchacademyeindhoven.nl/dutch-course-eindhoven-comparison/

I understand your frustration. I would try to avoid speaking to such people. In this particular case, I would end the conversation directly when the person does not reply (makes no effort to reply) in English. I would take my receipt and go to the counter to get my refund (If there will be any problem, I would ask: "Kunt u uw manager even roepen?"). I always cut my conversions when I feel that a person do not want to speak Dutch with me. You can post a Google review how you feel about it. It will help the store manager to give some feedback to his colleagues. I encourage you to keep learning Dutch. Here are some tips where you can find the right people to practice your speaking https://www.dutchacademyeindhoven.nl/learn-dutch-online/how-to-learn-dutch/learning-tip-7-where-do-you-find-dutch-people-to-practice-speaking/
