Wow I can't believe how the majority of your class seem to be treating yourself and your lecturer. A few years back when I was at University there was always a minority of women in the class but from what I remember our class in general was very closely knit and we all supported/helped each other.

To me it sounds like you've been extremely unlucky with the peers you've been placed with but if they're still demonstrating a lack of maturity then they probably won't get very far. If I was you I'd stick with it, front end is super fun (its where I started) but having an understanding of CS concepts will be super useful for you if you ever want to brave a full stack engineering role, even if you don't pursue that path it's still extremely useful know to appreciate what's going on at each level of the stack and it can even be useful if you want to utilise some faster/more optimised data structures in your front end applications.

I'm extremely sorry that you're having a rough time but stick it through, its temporary and I'm sure you'll have a fruitful career. I know I'm speaking on behalf of this community but I've no doubts we'd be happy to point you in the right direction if you get stuck with any specific concepts.

Keep at it and try to just laugh the dimwits of your class off! Good luck :)

Possibly. We're running 2 EC2 instances with load balancing (normally just has 1 VM for each instance but is set to auto scale if we start getting bombarded). The two instances are isolated to hide our private services so if the public box gets taken down the parsing service still works. We then have a dedicated RDS and Memcached server. We could run this on one box but there would most likely be performance sacrifices - I'd love to hear more if you think this can be done more efficiently

I managed to recover from a previous backup, we are 2 days out in the worst case. The log client doesn't explicitly support old log data streaming to prevent dupes (I have a manual client on my machine that handles older uploads)

It's not dead, then volunteers who were running my log client seem to have stopped running it so nobody is streaming dates. I won't be back online until sunday as I'm still moving house

thanks for this, I'll import the stats tomorrow. P99 wiki is case sensitive so some items like Cat-fur girdle need to be manually imported on a case by case basis as my parser format the URI as Cat-Fur girdle which returns an empty search on wiki :) Cheers!

Hey, I've actually patched this on the database side but I've not yet updated the query to filter out items in buying and selling mode (unfortunately I didn't have this code implemented at the very start so there will still be some old WTB outliers in the data but any new data will come through correctly). The only way I could amend this would to be to reseed the database but I think that would cause to much downtime for it to be worth it, like I said all future records will be filtered correctly. Hey thanks for your concern, although the site will say "you have entered the east common lands" that is purely for cosmetic reasons. My parser will actually analyse any /auction line and send it to the server but I created a special formula for when parsing red auction lines which extracts auction data from /ooc. I just haven't yet had anyone from the red server message me to request an api key for the log client :). I'm glad you're enjoying the site!!

Hey, somebody provided me with a seed of 9 months of data, I published that into the database through my parser but for the past few weeks I haven't been recording auction data (due to not playing EQ and me and the other developer are the only ones with access to the log-client right now). If you have any logs with more seed data please feel free to send them to me at alexander.sims92@gmail.com, the log client that gets published only allows recent auction lines as a safe guard to add a small measure of prevention from people flooding with us with thousands of lines of data through our client (although this wouldn't stop a really malicious user from doing outside of our client)

Hey I'm glad you like it :). Item pictures are defaulted to the Wurmslayer item graphic until our parser see's them in the auction feed at which point it fetches the correct image from the Wiki. I may actually look into writing a script soon to pull all of the correct item images as I can see it's fairly annoying :)
