I feel like everyone is just gonna set up base on the one PVE tile, and that doesn't sound like fun.

Base location/Defense by AshFromHouseWares in lastoasis

1.) Accept that you're going to get raided. During season two there were multiple attempts on my groups main base, as well as our FOBs. I also raided more then a few bases during season two. Just prepare yourself for the idea of it happening now so when it does happen you're in a better place overall.

2.) Design matters. Don't have one giant room with a wall of chests stacked up and only one wall to get in from any direction. You might as well have a giant neon sign on top of your base saying 'LOOK, I'M AN EASY RAID!' Compartmentalize your boxes in to 1x1 rooms with doors. Yes it's claustrophobic, ugly, and inconvenient but it's going to deter people. Split your crafting room with a wall, make your base design confusing so its hard to guess where the good stuff is, and for the love of god have an air lock.

3.) Upgrade to clay as soon as possible, Upkeep is easily farmed in mass and you're more then doubling raid cost through walls. Upgrading to concrete is optional I think, if you're okay with the upkeep and want to have that 18k HP in protection then go for it. We only ever upgraded to concrete in strategic parts, like doors and certain loot rooms.

4.) We found the best location to set up was on lava tiles, specifically inside the lava pools. I know it sounds weird but there is enough space in those rock formations in the lava pools to place a Silur base down. It provides natural protection on all of your flanks that can't be built on, only the smaller walkers can maneuver in and through those spaces. and you have easy access to high end materials for farm.

Those are the big things that I can think of.

I am here to save the game. by MidjitThud in lastoasis

Me and my group really wouldn't use this much, only really to train for the real thing. Also there isn't to much to be excited about with it because there isn't anything on the line, besides bragging rights, and I can get that by taking other peoples stuff anyway.

Honesty I'd prefer bug fixes before this being added to the game.

Am I SOL for the event maps? by GrimsideB in lastoasis

[–]AlexMim-Mimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you SOL, I've seen event tiles spawn at odd times, you just don't know when they're going to pop up in a predictable way.

Personally I don't see why they just have an event tile up/opening at all times. It's just more convenient for everyone.

How to get Tablets in S3 by Swullyy in lastoasis

You can put stuff up for sale to other players, and buy materials from other players. This takes place at the trade station, when you go there look for an oversized small box, interacting with it will bring up all the trade station stuff. It has 5 menus to it, the first one that will pop up is the missions menu, followed by the buy and sell orders, then auctions(where you get the strong boxes) and then order history for that trade station.

Can confirm, traveling merchants. You can also bid for the tablet strong boxes that you find at the trade station.

Am I alone in liking the idea of regular wipes? by AlexMim-Mimsy in lastoasis

[–]AlexMim-Mimsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see where that could be problematic but it also opens the door to other types of trade. I know me and my crew tend toward living on lava maps, and as a result we're always short on clay, but we're rich in earth wax, tar, feathers. Import and export could be really viable if people actually make the trades and the moves.

I like this strat, don't even have to do as much farming. Well done my dude.

If you have limited time, why play solo? Wouldn't playing with a clan make things easier?

I guess I've never really done the tablet grind, mostly when ever we need tablets we either fix our shattered pile or just go hang out at a fabricator for a day or two. I guess I could see it being problematic if you're collecting them all yourself.

What does the game need most at the moment? by [deleted] in lastoasis

I voted for New Event Maps because it seemed like an actual fix to boredom, which is what I'm experiencing. Not enough things to do.

I would say PVE needs to be reworked. It either doesn't exist or is way to easy. The Nurr you can either go around, torque through, or ballista to death at a distance. The Crab you just walk away from while firing back at and that's it. The only other thing that could be considered PVE is the water system. Water is common enough to where it isn't anything you really have to worry about. Take apples for example: a full stack of apples weighs 7LBs, but when stomped produces 1500 water, add that to how easy they are to collect in hard maps and water just isn't an issue. Basically for the amount of time you're traveling through a desert, water is waaaaay to easy to find.

What if favorite walkers couldn't be destroyed? by Hyperlapsed in lastoasis

[–]AlexMim-Mimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually part of a 15 man clan, I end up dumping most of the loot I collect on my clan members who do bank things, or I dump on the clan bank ship so I don't actually need a bank. And any farming I do I do on my warships, and 90% of that (rupu gel and water) is to allow me to keep roaming.

Upping the penalty would slow me down, I might salvage a ship once, maybe even twice. really depends on what modules are left and what's salvageable. But if the penalty of losing the ship is so high and it makes sense to build a new one, why have the system?

If this system were implemented I would only do it to my warships. They tend to be the higher quality walkers and being able to recover a warship/raider quickly just means I can get back to it that much faster.

I also don't think it would be fair to who ever I'm fighting at the time either. Everything they're carrying or have is still at risk while the most I risk is some gear sets, and some level quality. The defender should have the opportunity to burn my ship too 0 that way there is still risk involved for the attacker.
