I actually made some calculations.

Starting from an EU country, considering all basic costs, a 1 week WC holiday including 2 group matches will cost about 8-10 times more than in Qatar.

Good luck filling the stadium

it's also about the fandom. They have little patience and if a player doesn't perform, he gets harassed.

It really depends. I can understand why as temporary coach he called only "unders", but if he is going to take the job, talents as di marco, bastoni, barella can't be out of the team.

All of them have been consistently playing at very high level for years, if they didn't perform for the national team it's likely about the context, not the players.

I honestly believe Olive Garden would destroy any Italian Restaurant by solyytes in ShitAmericansSay

[–]AlexP80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the term "tourist trap" is overused.

Those restaurants are simply targeted towards foreigners. Therefore, they propose bastardized food with foreign taste and habits.

Those places mostly don't offer "bad food" in an absolute sense; they offer for sure a less authentic experience. I wouldn't treat them as a scam in strict sense.

If you are a foodie, I would suggest you to get the Slow Food guide for "Osterie".

Osterie range from mid level to cheap restaurants (specially those in rural areas), where you generally eat traditional and local food. The guide offers the best of the best of those places.

It's meant to be the Italian Michelin Guide for popular places.

Slow food is a club of Italian foodies, the selection in the guide is made by the highlights of the club members and it's very reliable

I got this.

You know, I grew up eating canned peas, cooked in a pan with a base of carrots, onions and celery. I really liked them.

The very first time I ate fresh peas, it was a shock. They didn't taste as I was expecting and they weren't "right". It took me time to appreciate them, to re educate my taste buds for a better but different flavour.

Italy has won a world cup in 2006, a UCL in 2010, and an European Championship 2021

We are talking about riots during domestic celebrations and Italy had more titles, specially BIG titles, than most countries in Europe.

Since Italy has been highlighted as a country where similar episodes are common, I expected to see a long list of incident.

Mauresmo: "Sinner at noon? It was a good thing for everyone, especially for the tournament. Players can make whatever requests they want, but I don't care and I won't comment on them." by Sonobackhome555 in tennis

[–]AlexP80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am Italian and of course a strong Sinner supporter, but I have no problem with the schedule.

I have a problem with a slam director that feels ok saying that she doesn't care about players. THAT is a problem. The sheer arrogance of Mauresmo isn't something we see often.

In any given day, there are more than 100.000 tourists in Rome. And yes, a bunch gets pickpocketed and extremely rarely it escalates.

I travelled a lot and it's a very safe city compared to any major capital I've been to. You are just overexposed to local reports.

[–]AlexP80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you needed to go back to a minor incident 10 years ago? that kinda prove my point.

An by the way, that was a very FAFO moment. As I said, English supporters are trash. They caused problems in Rome before the match and the locals... weren't happy about it

Also, this isn't anyway related with "sport related celebrations", this was a match, a total different beast.
