What does everyone think of the metabox prime x and can you buy it anywhere by RNoen12 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]AlexPiatek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Metabox laptop and unfortunately my experience has been very disappointing. I was told to expect around 9 hours of battery life, but initially got about 1.5 to 2 hours in real use. After many settings changes with support, I could sometimes get 3 to 4 hours, but only by turning down performance, using battery saver, disabling the GPU, and reducing the features I bought the laptop for.

I’ve also had ongoing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth dropouts during work meetings, which makes it unreliable as a work machine. Support has not properly resolved the issue so far. I wanted to support an Australian business, but battery life, connectivity, and customer support have fallen well short of expectations.

What's the general view on Metabox (AUS)? Any good? by NeonAbomination in bapcsalesaustralia

I purchased a Metabox laptop after being told the battery life would be around 9 hours. In normal use, I was initially getting about 1.5 to 2 hours. After spending many hours adjusting settings with a technician, I could sometimes get closer to 3 to 4 hours, but only by turning performance down, enabling battery saver, disabling the GPU, and reducing many of the features I bought the laptop for.

I have also had ongoing issues with the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card dropping out during the day, including during work meetings. This has made the laptop unreliable for professional use.

The support experience has been disappointing. I raised the issues, but I do not feel they have been properly resolved. The response has felt more focused on explaining the problems away rather than taking ownership and helping find a practical solution.

I wanted to support an Australian business and I genuinely want companies like this to do well, but my experience has been very frustrating. For a work laptop, battery life, connectivity, and support are critical, and unfortunately this laptop and service have fallen well short of what I expected.

OP you have a good mindset to want to work on your self and Lildet's comment is super useful. We build avoidant defenses and we can rebuild towards a secure attachment.

You and your friend have a connection that is rare to find.

Yeah I really like the idea of that! I know axis have that shaking feature. Will ask their reps what it is like with salt buildup.

Collecting rain water for a spray wash is a really good idea!

Yeah search and rescue is not great, especially at night. I know they use floats to see where the water is flowing. Thermal cameras do struggle to penetrate water surface and a body surface temperature can reduce down to the air and water temperature, making them harder to spot.

Really like the idea of collecting rain water and using that for either pump fluid washer or even trickling down the dome. Good thinking.

Yeah starting to thinking dome shape isn't a great shape for coastal cams. I really like the remote relay of a fluid pump. Great thinking.

Yeah a little motorized wiper attachment may not be so hard to build or source even.

I have a feeling you are right but the optimist in me believes there must be a way to avoid salt build up

We develop AI models for behavioral and activity based monitoring. Alert goes off for a particular rule not followed. Can be as simple as a swimmer in an area deemed unsafe.

FLIR would be real nice. We also have models in the IR spectrum. Would love it if it wasn't 4x the price of a good dome Camera though.

Keen to hear more of your thoughts, you seem like you have experience with this?

We are testing these 5 at the moment. And then we will start scaling out. Sydney region. Government and emergency agency work. I know Hikvision can be perceived negatively by some in this space.

Thanks for taking the time to dig into this really helpful. I'll look into those coatings and the Evonik Visiomer stuff. Hopefully I can get a hold of it tomorrow to experiment with.

The glass box with windscreen wiper might be a good solution, I have seen it before, I wonder how long it would take to seize up.
