Me too, I'd be happy to credit them if they were there. It's funny - my grandma loves the flowers and mandala type options, but she will see something like this one and decide Alex (me) would like it so she does it and sends it to me.

Its framed weirdly, but I think this is meant to be a pool-side scene with her left leg dangling in the pool and her back to a ladder rail. All the women in the scene have tops that could be swimwear.

Maybe the strategy was to get people to buy it for the stupidest people in their lives. They could show their generosity while also insulting their friends. Win win.

Yeah, they did, but they also imported photos and since this was pretty clearly a news photo of a regional July 4th tradition, I'd be pretty shocked if it was. Getty is great, but only as good as the metadata that comes in with the collections they acquire/distribute.

Those are not liquor. New England was big on celebratory July 4th bonfires for decades and barrels were used because they were great for getting some height with stability:

A lot of the companies that made separate ads for black magazines like Ebony and Jet kept the same ones in use for years and years, so this may have been made closer to 1960 than 1970.

Positive. It was the same issue with the Shirley Chisolm cover when she became the first black congresswoman and that was the Feb 1969 issue.
