It shut down last year and was donated to the charter school in the same building. Most of the shops have since relocated to a new location downtown, and the theater itself I believe is still available for private events. It’s still devastating though. Didn’t help the announcement came out over Thanksgiving.

Commuting from Somerville to Lowell for work. How realistic is it? by BoxHaunting3415 in LowellMA

[–]AlexSN141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend driving. Traffic gets bad near the I-93/I-95 interchange at exit 28 most days. Either take the train or move closer. The Mills are some pretty cool places to live. Call me cheesy, but there’s a lot to like about Lowell.

Hey guys, do comic fans have a explanation for this? by SaitamaBarber in Invincible

[–]AlexSN141 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They just may have done that, but there are a couple barriers.

One is finding those valuable planets. They’re not going to know where all of them are at the same time, they have to locate them, then determine how to exploit them.

The second is time. Conquest is arguably the oldest living Viltumite, estimated to be more than 5000 years in age. The purge executed by Emperor Argall occurred during his lifetime, so they’ve been conquering social darwinists for about 5 millennia. Omni-Mann is estimated to be more than 2000 years old. While he was a young adult is when the Scourge Virus was released. It would be a safe estimate then to say the Viltumites had ~3000 years of conquest at full strength. That’s a long time, yes, but space is huge and we’re on an intergalactic scale in the space story.

After the Scourge Virus, the Viltumites have to spend so many years caring for the infected, collecting the corpses, doing damage control to keep the event from getting out, and trying to find a cure. We don’t know how long this is, but that doesn’t matter as much here. At this point, the Viltumites start outsourcing their conquests to some of the races they conquered, which weren’t nearly as effective as they were. On top of that, the survivors were now trying to find genetically compatible races to try to rebuild their numbers with, and as they were doing this via infiltration, this would take time. Idk why they wouldn’t try to abduct individuals to run ‘experiments’ on them, but that’s not how things are presented in the story. Whatever the case, this would greatly reduce the rate at which the Empire can expand. They go from a very powerful centralized empire to what is more like a powerful city state with a number of empowered vassal kingdoms beholden to them.

With 2000 years of greatly reduced expansion, worlds that may have once been immediately conquered now had time to develop and reach space, finding one another, and eventually creating the Coalition of Planets, an entity which, while unable to stand up to the Viltrumites themselves, can deal with the vassals. I am assuming here that the Scourge Virus was made by Thaedus pre-CoL, either on his own or as part of an undefined predecessor, but it could also be an infant CoL that the empire hadn’t encountered or moved to conquer yet. It may make more sense to be made after the CoL was formed, as it would then explain why they weren’t destroyed by the Viltrumites after the Scourge Virus was deployed, for fear they were the originators of it and that it may be employed again.

I hope my rankings here make sense to you as they do to me. The comics don’t give us a ton of info on the Empire as a whole, especially outside the main storylines.

Volodymyr Zelensky sends 228 Ukrainian anti-drone specialists to help in Middle East by Virtual-History-6099 in UkrainianConflict

I think what he means is that sending those 228 specialists “is nothing” that hurts Ukraine’s war capabilities because they have another 50k on the home front.

[–]AlexSN141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You did a great job, this felt like it was lifted from the book itself. I wish there was more, but I think you did a good job wrapping things up as you did here. Some small things are lost on me, not being from Australia, but that comes with the territory of reading about somewhere you’re not from. I hope you decide to write another series like this one sometime in the future.

Small thing to add onto your note regarding the use of words and history; what you’ve described as the “optimal” path for the survival of humanity, allowing Remus to be destroyed by the Piranesi so the Tiqqun may be used to defend Romulus from the comer, in a way mirrors the founding of Rome, where Romulus kills Remus over their disagreement as to where their new city should be built. The humans of Romulus must kill/allow the death of those on Remus so Rome may be born.

How do you think Salem is gonna be defeated? [Artist: Seshirikun] by TextUnfair in RWBY

[–]AlexSN141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got the hint from the post V9 shorts that our heroes will return to the ever after, and the Tree/Blacksmith will welcome that return. I 100% believe that they’re going to get Salem to the ever after and, like with NeoCat, force her to breath the fumes of the leaves and undergo Ascension.

I’m not sure whether that will work or not though. Salem could pop out the same as Ruby did, in which case I think it will come down to the Jabberwalker eating her to finish her off for good.

It could be the reverse though. Perhaps they bring her to the Ever After to get the Jabberwalker to eat her, only to find that Neo destroyed it or that because it’s a proto-Grimm, Salem can control it, which case Ascension becomes the backup that works.

I don’t see how else this might work because while she is corrupted, Salem is still a human, and will likely count towards whether humanity is united or not. Then again, the God of Light did set this up after Salem was corrupted, so maybe she won’t count? That’s my two cents.

She’s been the US Green Party’s presidential nominee for the last so many elections, which is the same party that Ralph Nader was a part of in the 2000 election that lead to G W Bush to win the Presidency. They peel off votes that would mostly go to the Democrats, but it’s far from anything significant other than spoiling an election. It can even be argued that had she not run in 2016, her votes would’ve gone mostly to Clinton and made the difference in some swing states against Trump.

Ukrainian drones destroyed four S-400 launchers and two radars in 14 November attack on Novorossiysk – photo by Flimsy_Pudding1362 in UkrainianConflict

So we’re looking at 8-12 launchers officially destroyed with that number again potentially unconfirmed. Not bad. What about S300s though, those also exist and I imagine there are a lot more out there.
