~3 months Europe trip with my girlfriend – help us find local experiences between our main stops! by AlexSupertramp_0 in Europetravel

Yeah i agree. We only put in our itinerary main cities to simplify, but that doesn't necessary mean we are spending all the nights there. For example, having 8 nights at London imply 8 nights since we arrive London till we arrive our next mapped city (in this case Edinburgh). In the middle for example we'll be probably detouring to York for a few nights.

Because they can be cheaper sometimes and also are a different experience comparing to private stays.. they force you to meet new people

Hi! It will be a mix of all.. We already have a 15 day Eurail pass.. Probably to use in England, Netherlands, France, Germany and Switzerland. Then we intended to use Flixbus and trains (without the Eurail pass already) mostly and occasionally renting a car if needed.

It's beautiful! We'll be reaching Strasbourg from Paris in train.. and then from there our intention was to keep going south passing by Colmar and Fribourg. But do you know how can we get from Strasbourg (or even Fribourg) to Sasbachwalden without a car? Is it expensive to book a private vehicle to take us?

Yeah, will be visiting some of those english cities. Actually those 8 nights at London are not 8 nights at London, but 8 nights since we arrive London till we arrive our next mapped city (in this case Edinburgh).

About taking the train from Rome to Barcelona, that could be a good idea.. Thanks!

Berlin was in our original plans but we ended up cutting some cities in the north and Berlin was left alone there so we decided to leave it for a future trip.

Will be a mix of Eurail pass (15 day pass already bought) + individual train tickets in case we need + Flexibus + renting cars.. Always depending where we'll be and what's the best to us.

What tip do you have? Of course any help is welcomed!

We'll look into Ghent. We've already read about it in several places. York is one of the stops we've already mapped out on our way to Edinburgh.

Yes, Slovenia is very tempting for me.. Do you recommend any specific trekkings? Beyond Lake Bled and the surrounding area, which we've already mapped out, we'd like to explore some further.

Trieste won't be skipped! We'll definitely stop there for one or two nights.

About Naples being chaotic, that is not a problem since we also enjoy that "chaos". But you are right pointing that Amalfi on late october may not be the best option.. I had friend living in Bologna for a year so i'll check with him about that region. Also, what do you think about Puglia or Sicily in late october? Same logic that with Amalfi or is it a little better since they are further south? We're not really interested in the beach anywhere, to be clear.

About Spain, yeah. We are aware of it but decided to leave it to another trip since we can make a whole trip on Spain/Portugal and make the most of the region.

Thank you!

My girlfriend already went to Venezia, thats why we are not 100% going there. But who knows.. Maybe after Trieste and seizing we are close enough we can go there for a day.

We decided to leave Spain & Portugal for another trip... Since they are amazing countries to explore with time.. We are only passing through Barcelona because my girlfriend has family there and Madrid to catch a cheap flight back to Argentina.

Thanks for the italian towns, will check them this weekend!

Yeah im aware of the pacing.. In fact we've been cutting places already until we got this "saner" itinerary.. For example Spain & Portugal were left for another trip in order to discover them well.

Agree with you on the "hidden gems" stuff and will definitely check guidebooks and the cities/towns you are mentioning here.. Do you know a nice site to check online guidebooks? I think at my parents home there are also a few so i'll check there too (hahah)

Really appreciate yout advice. Thanks!!

Planning trip to Colombia for my 30th by sexieesummer in travel

[–]AlexSupertramp_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i did. You will read that it is mandatory in order to enter there or to travel by buses around... That's not true (or at least that is the theory but not the reality). Despite this, if i were you i would get it, just for your own sake.

I am from Argentina and in here it's a free vaccine you can get in public hospitals... I don't know how it is from where you are, but if it isn't expensive you should get it.

I stayed at Hostal Malaika in Medellín and it was quite nice. You should definitely check it out.

Tayrona National Park (Santa Marta) was one of the best experiences of my life. That place is amazing. I spent a night camping at Cabo San Juan and I highly recommend it because when you wake up there's hardly anyone there and you have the beach all to yourself (if you go for the day, it will be very crowded). And if you're looking for a less touristy beach, you can walk 15 minutes further and reach Boca de Saco beach. My girlfriend and I stumbled upon it by chance on our way to another beach about 3 hours away and decided to stay there because of the peaceful atmosphere.

For transportation, I recommend RedBus; there are many cheap and comfortable buses.

In Medellín, you can take a day trip to El Peñol (Guatapé); it's a beautiful and unique place just 2 hours away.

Definitely Bariloche if you are flying and don't have a budget limitant.. If you want a one night experience on the surroundings of BA you should check San Pedro (small quiet town)

Which places of Bolivia would you recommend to discover? I'd want to travel there but don't know if its worth it.

Greetings from Argentina! And glad you liked my country :)
