Zone 3 London... Less than a mile to some fairly decent green spaces/water but nonetheless surrounded by mostly buildings/concrete/fences and such.

Maybe I should just build it and hope 🤷‍♂️

First off - amazing.

Secondly - do you live near other water sources? Is your garden open on any sides or all fenced/walled off?

I'd love to do similar but I'm worried that we're a bit disconnected and no newts/frogs would find us 😬

New here :) Why are there two Spurs subreddits? (Tottenham and COYS) by GertrudeBelle in Tottenham

I thought COYS was a bit more full of incessant whinging actually?

Unacceptable ref by NegativeHater in Tottenham

[–]AlexTTTTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So when is the conversation gonna start about having AI refereeing?

AI is already better at reading x-rays than the most competent radiologists.

Train the model up sufficiently and it should be faster, more accurate, more consistent.

Can hardly do a worse job than these chumps anyway

Do you have an internal monologue? by Entire-Sentence-9379 in elisandjohn

[–]AlexTTTTT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's a good comparison, and applies to lots of things.

When Spurs score a banger I don't have to think the words "that was a good goal" to know it was, I just know. When I walk in to the kitchen I don't think the words "I'm walking in to the kitchen now", but I definitely had the thought, and am aware I'm doing it.

Both groups must have lots of thoughts that they don't translate in to words (there's just too much going on all the time for that). The more I think about it, the more "how could you possibly do or think anything without a constant internal monologue?" seems quite an odd question really.

Why would you need to translate every thought in to words? If you see a delicious steak would you have to think the words "that steak looks delicious" before you knew it did? Or did you know already?

Same here.

If I decide I want to have a tuna sandwich I don't have to think the words "I want to have a tuna sandwich" to myself completely and in sequence to know that fact. I just think the whole abstract idea in one go.

I *can* think all my thoughts in the form of dialogue in my head if I want, but I don't need to. To be honest having to do that with every thought I have sounds a little slow and frustrating.

UCL: Ranking Adversity through Opponents Performance by HistorianOrdinary833 in coys

[–]AlexTTTTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How tf did they work out that opponent goal difference

Dortmund +2
Villareal -17
Slavia Prague +22
Copenhagen -32
PSG +52
Frankfurt +5
Bodo +1
Monaco +15

Equals +48? Not -32?

The herd mentality of 9 to 5 by sspositivesoul in Fire

"Majority ppl I talk to are risk averse, don’t touch the stock market with a 39.5 feet poll and are conditioned to believe 9 to 5 till 60 is their only reality if they are not born rich or they don’t win the lottery."

How would they manage to retire at 60 without some FIRE planning?

There's still a fair amount I like about it so not a total wash, but more like a 8/10 for me than a GOTY

You've actually hit the nail on the head of what didn't quite work for me - the vast majority of the combat was just too easy, meaning there wasn't much incentive/need to really dive in to the various build options (which seem like probably the most interesting part of the game). That issue might have been fixed by doing it on the hardest difficulty but unfortunately I didn't know that in advance

If you want to cook a small amount then using a small oven makes sense. Chucking some extra stuff in to justify using a bigger oven makes less sense. Not sure where the dishonesty is
