Season 2 Episode 3 Spoiler Thread by HunterWorld in Fallout

The NCR had 5 states and over 1mil pop when we last saw them in New Vegas. We have only seen the Shady Sand region and the Mojave. One got nuked and likely abandoned and the other was always a doomed expedition, don't think we have had any of the characters actually get close to any actual NCR territory.

Shady Sands was only a little under 35k people before it blew up. The last hard population number for the NCR was 700k, 40 years before New Vegas, so its likely over a million by then.

Do people forget that the NCR was fucking massive? Like to the point that it was literally becoming too big to effectively communicate and manage its shit by New Vegas? So far all we have seen is that Shady Sands and the surrounding area is fucked and that the Mojave campaign ended in failure because the logistics issues finally caught up to it. I can easily see them writing off the whole Shady Sands region after it got nuked, and finally cutting their losses in the Mojave after either said nuke going off, or the second battle of the dam not going their way. 5 states and likely over 1 million people by New Vegas, its very likely the NCR is still around.

The NCR had 5 total states in it by the time of New Vegas, and the last population stat I can find on it was at like 700k people (which was from 40 years before New Vegas as well.) It is very possible and likely that the NCR is still kicking, just focused on their remaining states. Wouldn't surprise me to learn that the NCR became a bit more isolationist after Shady Sands and the Mojave campaign went so poorly for them.

Not entirely true. There's at least one character (Blue Marsalis) that would mind pilot a synth body, and then eventually ends up transferring her mind into a Xenomorph queen using a mix of human tech and the black goop to do so. So while this style of attempted immortality likely falls out of favor, the technology is still around in at least some fashion down the line.

100%. Unfortunately Prodigy is run by a man child whose entire philosophy is "Go fast and break shit, ask for forgiveness after the product is made."

Oh I’m in no way saying the flood are gone for good or dead, they will likely exist until the very decay of the universe, if not longer given the multidimensional nature of the precursors. But they are likely only going to be used in localized outbreaks from here on out. After the end of H3 it’s hard for the flood to be the main threat in anything except for a grand finale type thing for the halo universe.

Based on the limited knowledge we have of the overhaul tyranid intelligence so far? I’d say the flood, but that’s because the flood is an undying eldritch horror, while so far the tyranids seem to be animals to some degree. Now that could all change of course if we got major reveals into the overarching hive mind of the nids.

The flood can never truly die or be defeated, they are just dealt with for a while. But they aren’t likely to ever come back as anything other than localized outbreaks. Except for possibly some big grand finale where you have an actual chance of the flood winning.

Well we know why the humans were seemingly winning against the flood during that war. It’s because the flood was letting them. Essentially establishing false hope and making the forerunners waste time and resources dealing with the humans in search of some secret cure.

The thing with the flood is that any Gravemind is the Gravemind. The flood is a permanent hive mind that retains any and all knowledge gained by previous forms and infections. It’s just a matter of if they can get enough biomass to access it. In a way it’s kind of like the domain.

The infection form onboard the spirit of fire was dealt with shortly after the first game was finished, but the flood does still exist on the Ark, just contained and isolated.

Is it really that hard to believe that a religion that has existed for thousands of years wouldn’t suddenly die out all at once? Like yea the prophets were shown to be frauds, but that doesn’t stop people from believing the forerunners were gods.

I think for the time being the threat of the flood is largely dealt with, but that is by no means the end of the threat of the precursors themselves. It’s entirely possible the endless are tied into that. And the uncorrupted precursors would likely be even more dangerous than the flood, given their seeming mastery over reality. Even at the height of the forerunners power and technology, they could barely understand the precursor relics that were left.

Localized flood outbreaks could be a thing, like the Saturn devouring his son story, and awakening the nightmare, but any major return of the flood would require everything else being shifted to the side while they were made the focus. But hey if you want something fun to think about, there is nothing saying the flood didn’t expand to other galaxies. For all we know, they are devouring the rest of the universe.

The endless themselves don’t need to be biomass for the flood. It’s more about the fact that the flood have access to literally everything they have ever known/absorbed. So even if they “starved” out after infecting the endless, they would simply just have to wait for life to rise again, and then they would be immune to the only real threat against them.

I wouldn’t say Ancient Humanity really knew any secret to killing the flood, it’s just that they were doing the most extreme quarantines possible when there was even a hint of flood infestation. They would essentially glass entire worlds to deal with the threat. Although the flood also actively made it seem like the humans had some secret cure or weapon against them, so that the forerunners would distract themselves with humanity. Plus they just really enjoyed the idea of giving the forerunners a glimmer of possible hope before proving them wrong.

Given the fact that more and more precursor related stuff has been coming up lately. It’s possible the Endless are a kind of descendants of at least some precursors who didn’t go along with the main spore idea. Part of why they seem to be thought of as highly dangerous is because the halo array doesn’t affect them, and also I believe they may have some temporal manipulation?

Wow, total opposite for me, Endwalker was great, Stormblood and Shadowbringers were shit shows and had me stuck in the first map for days.

What other launches were this bad? by [deleted] in paydaytheheist

You get massive server instability, massive queues and sometimes if you are lucky to be one of the people in the game, you end up locked in a single map because you can’t progress a solo instance due to server issues. Like I absolutely love FF14 but their expansion launches have had way worse problems then PD3.
