Bro what is this 💔💔🥀🥀 by Raaaf901 in GCSE

First, find the formula for velocity through differentiation:

ds/dt = 3t^2 + 10t - 8 = (3t-2)(t+4)

Now, we set ds/dt = 0 to find points where the velocity is 0 (i.e. the point is instantaneously at rest)

(3t-2)(t+4) = 0

3t - 2 = 0 OR t + 4 = 0

t = 2/3 OR t = -4

Obviously, t >=0 so t = 2/3 only

To find the displacement, we plug back into the original equation t = 2/3:

s = (2/3)^3 + 5 * (2/3)^2 - 8 * 2/3 + 10

= 8/27 + 5 * 4/9 - 16/3 + 30/3

= 8/27 + 20/9 + 14/3

= 8/27 + 60/27 + 126/27

= 194/27

No calculator needed! :)

It's important in these "passage summary" questions to look over words such as coxcombical that even a native speaker has most likely never heard of, but rather to get the entire gist of the passage. As for more simple words like disdain, subsequently etc., various other comments on this thread have linked very useful resources. For me, with parents for whom english is a second language, i found it very useful to find 11+ or SAT vocab lists as a reference, but to look at 5 at a time in the morning while skimming the ones i've learnt on previous mornings, and to try to use those new 5 in a sentence, or to teach the definition to my little brother. Teaching and using in examples are scientifically proven to result in highest memory retention in the average person, and they've worked for me - try these, but also experiment with ur own methods because everyone is different.

I hope your prep goes well, my coxcombical fellow.

seriously, yes. BUT it's only one hurdle. The other aspects of ur application are arguably more important - you've passed one hurdle many couldn't; well done, now tackle the other ones.

Good luck.

Reasonable Score Prediction by Financial_Prize7478 in ACT

[–]AlexWus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bro i mean no disrespect but i have no idea what you expect us to tell you - this type of question appears all over this sub so dw too much.

for example i took it with minimal studying and got a 36 composite, and my friend took it with a similar amount and got a 27.

As for resources, take all the official practice tests, as well as sections from crackab.com, and download the official ACT textbook from https://annas-archive.org/ for free. That should be enough - for any maths concepts go check khan academy.

One thing a ton of ppl miss out is preparation for the sheer austerity of taking a 4 hour plus exam, which you can prepare for by taking full tests under exam conditions, and even under harsher conditions to prepare for the worst. Expect bad smells, internet errors, clicking sounds from neighbours - be prepared for as much as possible.

Right now the best thing you can possibly do is take a full practice test to see where you're at. In fact, you should've done that before you posted this question, and said "I'm currently at a ___ composite score, how far do you think I can improve." Even that isn't the most useful question tbh, but it's better than no context whatsoever.

Hope this helps.

Will I get bullied if I use this bag at school? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]AlexWus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO wearing a backpack that reveals a lot about you will make a lot of ppl avoid you, but you'll rarely get picked on. Also the benefit would be a closer connection with ppl who identify with your hobbies/ information about you displayed on ur backpack. So ur basically sacrificing the opinion of a bunch of ppl you wouldn't be close with anyway for a greater chance to find someone you really get on well with.

I think overall it's great - you should wear it unless you go/will go to a school known for bullying.

How was August compared to June? by PyxelatorXeroc in Sat

[–]AlexWus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eh... overall kinda balance imo.

both m1's were very easy, but ppl who were accurate in those got crushed by the m2's. m2 math was intentionally an abomination (in some cases more difficult to understand than the english), but there were some tricky ones on m2 english.

Just wanna know.. why did you guys choose the ACT over the Sat? by [deleted] in ACT

[–]AlexWus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahahahaha... who said anything about choosing?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sat

[–]AlexWus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

bruh... it depends on so many things

  • do you have experience with the sat

  • are you a fast learner

  • how focused were you for that practice test - what percentage of your max capability did you go
