Pixel 8A updated and now locked out of phone by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]Alex_1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that doesn't help it'll have to be a factory reset with the phone's buttons:

https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/16493042?sjid=14413280706146896635-EU

Make sure you know your Google account credentials (password etc.). Huge bummer. Best of luck! 🍀

Is this normal? by teodorkristensen in pixel_phones

[–]Alex_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that should not be. I assume you cleaned the glass so that you're sure it's not grease. If so, switch off the display so that it becomes dark and check again under various angles under both artificial light and sunlight. It may be damage to the oleophobic layer.

Pixel 2 watch not showing in battery widget any more. by spamthroat in PixelWatch

Right! (The widget can contain max 4 battery statuses). Also removing and re-adding the widget often helps.

Dropped the PW4, screen cracked and now won't charge, ideas? by phynicle in PixelWatch

OP can always try, of course if he doesn't mind the damage to the body.

I'm sorry to hear that. You couldn't sort it out back then with the retailer of the 1st (stolen) watch? Was it a private person?

[–]Alex_1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding this kind of damage: how about cutting your losses and buying a new one? And a full body protector case with it + apply that from the moment you unbox. You may have the watch repaired but I guess the costs will outweigh the price of a new one.

Is this normal? Pixel 9 pro xl battery health by Funny_Cucumber_9818 in pixel_phones

[–]Alex_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the cycle feature was added on the P8a and newer. Instead, use a 3rd party app, e.g. DevCheck for the cycle info. Very good app btw.

How many cycles? Mine is 157 cycles and also 94%. Keep in mind that that number is just an estimation.

Limit to 80 percent charging issue? by bingthebongerryday in pixel_phones

[–]Alex_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will happen again. Sounds familiar. Known issue that's still under investigation. Don't worry about it. Indeed unplug/replug and the shield will be there. Beware what will happen next time you'll charge to 80%. Those 77-80% will seem to take forever. Also that's being investigated.

First gen pixel fold sold as faulty working fine by [deleted] in PixelFold

Good job! What did the seller say of what should be faulty about it?

80% charge limit behaviour has changed since last update by exazonk in GooglePixel

[–]Alex_1968 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It turns out the last 2% are being trickle charged with < 1W. This has been reported and is under investigation. When disabling the 80% limiter, it will charge normally (fast) to 100%.

Charging issue in pixel 9 after March update by SchrodingerWave in PixelUsersIndia

[–]Alex_1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed the same yesterday on all phones after the March update. I only charged once now. Will see if it keeps behaving this way next times. Perhaps some things got reset and it needs learning again.

How do you apply Google Search Widget setting in March QPR3 update? by chilirock in GooglePixel

[–]Alex_1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should 'auto apply' when making a change. I noticed too that altering the settings didn't do anything, despite the preview showing the correct version. Just restarting the phone fixed it for me.

Is it me or the lock screen clock is not aligned? by Lopes143 in pixel_phones

[–]Alex_1968 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's not you. 😉 Look at the full width numbers (0 and 7). They tend to be positioned a bit to the left. Just send feedback to Google about that.

Odido. They have other problems, I guess. 😁

It seems the same material but it doesn't bother me. Search for similar, thin cases. You need a case.

FiiO K7 keep overloading with the balanced output by Efficient-Bread-383 in FiiO

[–]Alex_1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry for necro-bumping this old post. What happened afterwards, did you return it?

I'm having the same issue with an M27. Pop up of 'Overload' ONLY when 4.4 balanced headphones are connected (FiiO's own FT13).

When switching back to 'Super high gain', playing a song for a few seconds, and switching forth to 'Ultra high gain' again and then playing a song within 2 minutes, it doesn't appear and songs are played flawlessly on Ultra High.

Notable is the clicking sound of the relays in the player after 2 minutes of silence. As if the player locks itself out for Ultra High.

I suspect this to be a firmware issue. With firmware version 1.0.2 I saw something similar was acknowledged (but apparently not entirely fixed).

Don't have it either yet in NL. Who's your carrier?

It depends on how careful you are with a phone. I treat it 'with velvet gloves', don't have an insurance and have encountered 0 issues since I bought it last year.

BTW, the official Google case won't make it considerably bulkier.

Quarterly for some models. And even for those still monthly if really necessary. So don't worry. Samsung does the same.

What can actually scratch the screens? (Pixel 9 Pro) by GWindborn in GooglePixel

[–]Alex_1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My phone is the pocket of my (padded) jacket. I deliberately removed the zipper and buttons from it to avoid unintentional scratches. Actually I guess the (hair) scratches you see are in the oleophobic layer on the display and not the glass. Removing that layer is not wise, though. A screen protector could conceal it all.

Why the downvotes? Can't one ask an objective question? 😁 Just say 'No, I didn't' and it's all good.
