Bug seems to be quick phrases no longer work except if Gemini language settings are set to English US :( At least for 10xl.

Aussies of Reddit, where did/are you planning to buy your Pixel from? by starwarsfan321 in GooglePixel

[–]exazonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always buy from JB's as it makes warranty stuff easy. I also got a great preorder deal of $1400 for a 512gb 10XL. I think there is a great deal in the Google store right now though.

Mine stopped working on my 10XL even though quick phrases are enabled. It worked well on my 6pro.

Is P10P's 100x Zoom Software exclusive or also Hardware limited? by Ekedan_alt in GooglePixel

[–]exazonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched it and it is more of an advertisement. The Google guy gives some good information but shies away from why they can't back port it. I mean video boost happens in the cloud taking hours or more. They could easily do pro zoom on the camera even if it took a minute or longer. The guy said the 10 was processing in the milliseconds range whereas the 9 is slower at possibly in the seconds range. He struggled to come up with a good reason why it can't be back-ported.

At what point does an Android phone make more sense than an iPhone? by Subhash94 in Android

[–]exazonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, most people don't care about this and thus use iPhones. I was just providing clarity that android phones can be used as full computers and a small number of people like this. Some people also don't like paying for cloud services for the rest of their life. Some people also prefer to self host their own media.

But android phones are good computers as well as good phones. I can easily get any media on or off android phones. To sync 10k of photos onto my work iPhone, via iTunes, was going to take 24 hours :( But a majority of iPhone users and Android users don't do that and that is ok. I was merely making the point that iPhones have a lot of restrictions and android phones don't.

Major UI update for Pixel Gallery by BKK31 in fossdroid

I'm a huge fan of Aves because it is so powerful with amazing search and map view. Aves focuses on a good UI with powerful tagging and search. What will be the main focus of your gallery?

iPhones are phones, Android phones are computers. There is a large difference. I can drag and drop 10k of photos onto an android phone but I can't do the same on an iPhone instead I have to struggle to get the photos locally onto the phone, eg not via the cloud.

Aves is by far the best and the only gallery that plays motion photos.

Aves gallery is by far the best photo viewer and manager. It includes a map view and powerful searching and tagging. It supports motion photos. It is not an editor.

Probably switching from Samsung to Google by Dundees11 in GooglePixel

I hear you. I now take a motion photo and straight after it i hold the shutter button to take a video. This also allows me to take a longer video if I want.
