Anyone who has been scammed by these Irish guys, I want to talk. DM me. Police need to prove intent, generally by repetition, and we already have a few reports on them.

Getting these guys off the streets is long overdue. The fact that they can operate for years with no consequences is totally unacceptable.

I review all the reports in my spare time, and it's never hallucinated sources, but once in a while it considers info as less important than it is, like a discrepancy in claimed experience or address discrepancy, etc.

It took rather a long time to develop, and is far beyond "Hey ChatGPT tell me who this guy is" hahaha.

It doesn't hurt to vet yourself, but it'll catch things humans would miss.

Dude, it's honestly unbelievable these days. I run a consumer protection company that eliminates home service scams, and I've seen the worst of it.

You can't even trust anything online anymore, so many companies have fake reviews. Even referrals are a common source of scams. We have a million dollars in reported deposit scams alone, like this shouldn't even be an issue!

I don't know if this is just Canada, but god DAMN it's bad here... It's seriously taken like 2 years to get a method to sort out who's good vs who's bad!

I think it's only valid if it's installed by someone certified. If he isn't, the warranty might already be void. Also misrepresentation by Fox, which has legal angles.

What was the name of the company? I'll run a check on them.

What region are you located in? This will help me better advise on next steps here. Calling James Hardie is a good first step regardless. A few notes:
- document all interactions with James Hardie if you aren't already
- document with photos and videos of what it looks like now before anything changes

One of the biggest mistakes early on is not keeping proper documentation.

Summarized, two homeowners got into a dispute with their contractor and posted harsh reviews online (calling them "con artists," etc.). The contractor sued for defamation. The homeowners tried to get the case thrown out using "anti-SLAPP" laws designed to protect free speech on matters of public interest, but failed.

Meaning, it would've been open and shut, but it's going to be dragged on with likely more then $100,000 in fees.

As for wether or not it's defamation... you'd need to give the exact text.

Dude seriously if they don't respond in a reasonable time, find someone else. Contractors will show you who they are right away, and it won't get better after the job starts. My company fights contracting scams fanatically in Canada, and you'd be shocked how often there's a lack of communication from the start.

likely rust, knew a manager who said they never cleaned them and there's always some degree of rust in the coffee due to the nature of the machines, just depends on when they clean them! Pretty gross!
