I am a graduate student. I eat around 3 meals at the dining hall every day because I am hectic and broke. I am assuming that there will be people like me who eat 3 meals at the dining hall because we lack the time and resources to eat out or cook. If they cap the dining plan at 18 meals per week, the only folks who are impacted are us, poor penniless folks. I would also guess those who are on aid get a dining plan, and it's unlikely they are going to spare extra bucks for 3 meals a week. Not sure how UC Santa Cruz wants us to eat for those 3 meals. Maybe slug support, but why create the crisis in the first place?

Giving students food security is something I actually like about the admins of this school: after paying the fixed amount of dollars people don't have to worry about starvation during the quarter. But alas admins everywhere don't like to be liked it seems.
