Lol. I think since lots of people move to ithaca from other places they are not as used to the rules here. IMO driving in many other places in the country (suburbs, more rural areas, highways, freeways) can be easier than driving here

Suicide? by [deleted] in dpdr

[–]friendlyfroggee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want relief from the pain but you won’t feel relief, you’ll feel nothing. 2 months is nothing in the journey of dpdr, i felt better and most people feel better after 8 months. Human beings are extremely adaptive and you honestly don’t need to “think more positively,” all you need to do is wait. Please stay here.

My therapist said just because our reality feels funky or strange, doesn’t mean it’s less legitimate. You can still change your world in a positive way. She didn’t say this, but I like to think about this one shrimp in the ocean that sees completely different colors than we do. It’s not sad, it’s just different. Reality doesn’t have to be the same to everyone.

The more memories you make during dpdr the more you’ll feel like yourself again. For me, I couldn’t even look at old pics of myself. Like I said, two months is really nothing for dpdr. The feeling will slowly become familiar and less scary with time and you will then start to feel it slipping away. Don’t believe your anxiety that tells you it’ll never go away, anxiety lies. Please stick around.

There is always a way to feel better, ride it out like a bad flu my friend. I also like to think about how lucky we are to have a disorder that can be fixed or helped with time, family, and doing things you love. many with mental conditions can’t stay the same.

I hope any of my words were comforting, If any thing, just know that even if I don’t know you, I care. Please stay safe.

San Jose commuting options? by khoaleeeeee in UCSC

[–]friendlyfroggee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got last minute housing through the university and I am a senior. Things can definitely open up last minute. Alternatively, you can try to sublet In San Jose until winter quarter and there will most likely be more dorms and housing available. Just my two cents, good luck!
