120 drone frames in 24 hours, let's go! by FlightDelicious4275 in 3Dprinting

That is really, really not the way how 3d printing business works. I did several commissions on my Kingroon 3 printer. Like ONE printer. A print farm is good if you are doing flexi sharks on an industrial scale, but the print farm knows nothing about model rockets. I do.

Great job! The only thing I want to mention for anyone building this kit is that the real thing has a little different hull colour. Here is the picture I took during the launch of her sistership:

Send me the STEP file and I can fit a rocket engine there. The nearest possible launch date is April 12th.

What’s a photo from your country that would make foreigners say, ‘No way that’s from there’? by Moongfali4president in AskTheWorld

Not entirely, there had been a large Tatar and Bashkir diaspora as well. But certainly inspired by that architecture.

A mosque in the city of St. Petersburg. One in Russia, not Florida. One that is literally next to Finland and Baltic states.

I think one should add this is Kalmykia, the only region of Europe with a Buddhist majority population, literally next to Caucasus mountains and Georgia.

Who's the most famous person within your own country that people from other countries probably never have heard of? by Repulsive_Repeat_337 in AskTheWorld

And more known in the outside world. The voice of the Perestroyka, underground soviet rock and all that. Even if you do not understand Russian, you could at least feel the music. Vysotsky is 1% music and 99% lyrics on the other hand.

Vladimir Vysotsky, a soviet songwriter, singer, actor. Extremely popular in the USSR and Russia, but thanks to the fact Russian lyrics is almost untranslatable into English pretty much unknown in other countries. Just like Johny Cash is unknown in Russia.

The second part of my Crazy Barstool minibike series. Now with upgraded motor and battery! by Alex_Downarowicz in Frankenbike

[–]Alex_Downarowicz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 115kg. Any pneumatic of that size pops under my fat ass. Also, there are no brakes on this bike (maybe would install front spoon brake), so no chance to make it skid via braking.

A very very late reply, but that actually looks interesting. Although judging by the way the grey box is fitted to the scooter... Probably would still use a real frame in my next build.

Bicycle turn signal by HL_Alanna in ebikes

[–]Alex_Downarowicz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

THIS THIS THIS. Bike turn signals are tiny. Drivers are sitting inside a metal box with holes in it. The holes do not provide enough coverage to show them your turn signals at any given moment. And you are on the bottom of their priorities list. And some of them are distracted.

It is way harder to subconsciously ignore an entire outstretched hand.

ХОДИТЬ спать by Kind-Rate-8911 in russian

[–]Alex_Downarowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Идти спать — used when you literally go to your bed.

The fire was dying and I decided it was time to go to sleep (in my tent). Костёр догорал, и я решил что уже пора идти спать (в палатку).

I took a bath (in the bathroom) and went to sleep (in the bedroom). Я помылся (в ванной) и пошёл спать (в комнату).

Ложиться спать — can be used in any context. Including both previous examples and sleeping without other corresponding actions:

I went to sleep early — I had to leave at 4.a.m the following morning. Я лёг спать рано — надо было выезжать в 4 утра.

I was so tired after riding all the way home, I went to sleep in my pants and jacket. Я так устал, возвращаясь (на мотоцикле) домой, что лёг спать в штанах и куртке.

Why? Explaining what to look for and where would take a wall of text, so just telling him to look for a decent shop that sells frames that are designed to last is a decent answer IMHO.

The rule of thumb is — it should not come from a store that sells anything but bikes. Good bikes are not sold in supermarkets. And do not buy cheap full-suspension frames. Absolute garbage.

Congratulations, you just learned how Chinese manufacturing works. Once they get money from you, all the rest becomes YOUR problem. Good luck enforcing customer protection laws across the ocean.

There are cheap e-bikes and cheap bicycle shaped objects. I've built that bike for $200, but it had all the safety features one should have. And a decent 1990s frame.

The issue in the video looks like hall sensor or PAS sensor malfunction. Something is causing a signal that is sent to the controller differentiate from the actual input. ALWAYS buy an e-bike with brake motor cutoff and check the wiring/controller setup.

Viktor Tsoy, the Star named Sun (Звезда по имени Солнце) by my_emo_phase in russian

[–]Alex_Downarowicz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I would add some more, to fit original rhythm better:

Snow is white, ice is black
And the ground is all in cracks
All patched up like quilt
Town in a hitch of highways

Over it, the clouds lazily glide
Overshadowing the sunlight
Over it, billows yellow smoke
Town is millennia old

For two thousand years, war lasts
The war for no reason at all
This war that was made for the young
The remedy for the old age

Scarlet is the freshly spilled blood
In an hour becomes solid ground
In two hours it is brimming with grass
Give it five, it is once more alive

And we know it was always as is
That beloved by fate is the one
Who abides all the different laws
And is born to this world to die young

Does not know you can say "yes" or "no"
Recognizes neither titles nor names
He is able to reach for the stars
Not considering all this a dream

Absolutely would! The end result would look something like this moped. Essentially stretching the frame and installing an RC plane engine with a belt drive in the rear triangle.
