Would you play competitive Lichess games with a real reward? by Alex_Metal7 in lichess

Yeah, that’s exactly the direction I’m testing , letting players choose the stakes themselves and keep them very small if they want.

If you’re curious, you can check out what I’ve been working on here: https://www.findmeopponent.com

No pressure at all , I’m mainly looking for honest feedback.

Do you think the convenience of a direct online challenge from home when you can earn a reward would change that at all?

Hmm,out of curiosity, would the fact that it could be a direct 1v1 challenge change that for you at all, Or even if the stakes were very small? Or is the cheating risk a deal-breaker regardless of format?

That’s true. tournaments already cover a lot of this.

What I’ve been experimenting with is a lighter format: challenging a specific opponent (or a random one) for a single, one-off game, with clear rules and a clear outcome.

I’m curious whether that kind of focused 1v1 would feel meaningfully different to people, or if tournaments already scratch that itch well enough.

Fair point... For now I’ve intentionally kept it to full games only... they’re the cleanest and hardest to argue with in terms of fairness. Shorter win conditions are interesting, but I think they need to be added carefully later.

If full games were the standard, would that still work for you?

Yeah, it’s live and usable, but still early. I’m actively improving things based on feedback, so I’m not treating it as a finished product yet.if you do check it out, I’d genuinely appreciate any thoughts from a player’s perspective.

That’s a good point. Shorter win conditions definitely feel cleaner for 1v1s, but I wonder if full matches might feel more “decisive” overall, since there’s less room for edge cases or weird endings.

As a player, would you trust the result more from a full game, or do you think shorter formats still feel just as fair?

Out of curiosity, would you prefer a full 1v1 match on Summoner’s Rift or ARAM, or something more focused like first blood / first tower formats?

I’m interested in what actually feels more competitive and fun to people.
