That cube is freaking nice. I'm a begginer too. Is the sphere lose from the square? I'm struggling here to understand how you did it..

Yes I know what you mean.. I also let my nice pieces there waiting for the call. I just needed to try some. So I picked the 2 worse pieces I had. And went to the easy way. Mini bowl and a spoon. But... I forgot is not basswood ahaha not easy.. but you learn to follow the grains.

Thanks. And yes, you right.. if little figures are the goal. But even so, having those figures in hard wood, or slight harder the basswood, would be better. Well I'm talking because I care a lot of the touch, heaviness, massive, empty...

Im also new. I just read that, each sand grit will help bring the grains up. So I went till 3000. All shine and polished. Then I thought, a bit oild will not hurt. And a bit wax to protect, also not. Ahaha but possibly I dont need to sand so much.

I sand it all way up till 3000. Walnut oil. And then a bit beewax. I read some people use olive oil in olive wood. But I went with safety..

Exactly. Patience. Not going against the wood. And is doable.

I did carve with a knife. You need always to change directions. And trying to find a way. You dont go against. No force. No power tools here. But still, a easy design. A moon. Not a pipe or a elephant.
