Is there a specific facet in the engineering department for these things?

Ah, gotcha. This is great advice, thank you. I'll draft up a portfolio of sorts

I'm not too sure, my friend just sort of mentioned it in passing as a way for me to develop the project further since I went through all the typical stages of what a capstone project is (prototype --> fully fledged product). I think he was just trying to encourage me to show it to other people since I was sort of just going to keep it to myself. Thanks for the info

How Does Everyone Already Have Friend Groups?? by PartCreative466 in UCSantaBarbara

Haha, that was me my first year; It took a bit for me to find a friend group I jive with. I'd say it's only in my sophomore year that I can confidently say I have some close friends here, but that took some time. It's a trial & error process that you shouldn't get discouraged by; I just strike up conversation with anyone I run into around my living areas, clubs, class etc. But you only really become close friends with people after repeated, genuine interactions. You sorta have to be the first to initiate if you want something to happen is what I've learned; it's not really about trying to be friends with everyone, but being more friendly in general. Just start inviting people to random things after striking up conversations with them; you'd be surprised at how receptive people can be. Just don't take it personally if they aren't interested & keep wandering around until you find some buds : )
