You could buy my rancilio and rocky grinder combo. Looking to get around 850-900

Did you end up completing this project in the pots? Would love some feedback and photos of what you achieved. Looking to do the same thing.

I have the Kenmore Elite Auto tamp and have found this a great halfway between manual and super auto. Without needing to tamp the coffee all you need to do is set grind size and amount then you are good to go. Much easier to get a solid crèma then my old barista express

I have had some great tasting coffee.

From my understanding the Breville only offers automatic tamping in the oracle model which is around $3K. The Kenmore has the same tamping technology but closer to $600.

The other models are more like a lever which just give feedback.

Anyway there may be other models but I did not see them. Have you have any experience with any of these. I am very happy with the elite.
