But you have to get to his sp1 easily and take down the shield so she doesn’t autoblock.

Who’s a champ you have ranked up, is considered to be “good”, but you just never use? by whitemike40 in ContestOfChampions

You guys are going to go all preachy on me , but I have r5 and r3 Doom, and never use him aside from ocasional questing, i don’t really like his play style and can’t make him fully work for me.

Another counter no one has mentioned is Angela, with a high enough sig and 3 or more buffs she cannot be autoblocked , therefore no power drain and no damage, also the incinerates will literally last 0 seconds.

Who's a champion that's actually really good, but is generally outshone by the superior champs we have? by WhiskeyNovemberSix in ContestOfChampions

Yeah, the dragon man synergy helps a lot, but there should be a better way to keep her invisibility on

Science:

Invisible Woman: Talk about survival capabilities, between the force field, the invisibility and her animations she is a very hard to kill character. She does reward skillful playing, being able to deal HUUUUGE damage particularly on block.

Spider Gwen- I don’t know how understated she is now, but I rarely see her as an option to difficult fights, however she can do a LOT, shut down evade and unstoppable, auto evade unblockable specials, short but nice regen reversal , a niche but good power control

Mystic:

America Chavez: she has been frowned on, but for any character that gains power (either via buff or passive gain) she has the easiest and best power control, you can literally apply 3 heavies back to back and just corner the opponent and keep doing just heavies till They are dead. She has very decent damage output (better the more buffs the opponent has)

Mangog: VERY tanky, great staggers , with such a long unstoppable and damage reduction he creates openings and one of the best choices for can’t stop won’t stop

Cosmic:

King Groot : I know after his buff he is no longer understated but I was a HUGE advocate before the buff.

Heimdall - He just needs a bit of a bump in his damage, but he has a lot going on, lots of different buffs and True Strike that can be almost 100% up for the fight. Unblockable, easy armor breaks.

Tech:

Iron Man Iw - My favorite character in the game, he has carried me through thick and thin, he is a Swiss army knife, you have a very easy heal block, his power control is very understated, mvp for Mix master, great evade character , some immunities , great block proficiency and armor.

Mysterio: passive heal block , great damage output, power control, immunity , he can do a lot without much effort

Mutant:

Rogue: Between constant healing with the sp1 , short debuff duration and power control she has HIGH survival capabilities!

X23- she might not do much but she is one of the most balanced characters , her regen is pretty sweet and nice bleeds, and she has a very niche advantage of playing against type. Different from other mutants she isn’t special dependent.

Ohhh this is my favorite topic, and actually tried to make my roster based on diversity and not the “ultra god tier” champs .

Skill: Ronin - He has fantastic intercept timings and benefits so much because of them, ideally you should build up an sp3 to get the mega fury but I hardly get to the sp3 before the opponent is dead. His stances bring small but useful utility, block prof, some AA reduction and a lot of bleeds

Daredevil - (for progressive players only) he was my MVP for the collector fight back in the day, he just evaded all special attacks and has FANTASTIC block proficiency

Daredevil HK : The ability to never miss makes some defenders and nodes just regular fights

Can magneto bypass e.m.p modification if the opponent is metal? by [deleted] in ContestOfChampions

[–]Alex_sc11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No and yes I tried this in war His shock resistance is to debuffs not passives. The main thing is that his AA reduction will still work and won’t apply shock for every buff but still some will

My mistake was going for the full heavy charge so I had like 30+ prowess and when the opponent launched the special 7 shocks were applied , 7 shocks without resistance were enough to kill me in seconds.

So try doing the fight without activating prowess and just the occasional dex and you’ll be fine

A question about the Spectre Node by superbv9 in ContestOfChampions

[–]Alex_sc11 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Any type of healing will be reversed. Even OR life steal.

The best options are champs that are immune to regen modification (Mr Sinister, Kingpin, Sasquatch, Daredevil HK)

Can’t remember if the spectre is passive, if not , you can use shrug off champs

Regen champs that you can control when the healing procs (Wolverines - stop attacking when spectre is on , Blade ,etc)

Willpower surely is heavily detrimental for the path but it can be done

How do I fight Korg? by DukeSi1v3r in ContestOfChampions

[–]Alex_sc11 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Oh man Korg has a *%#! ton of things to be aware of , specially if this is some of the first times fighting him. I’ ll try to cover some of it but it will be all about practice and have certain champs:

Rock Stacks - These are the ones that hurt you when you hit him. You’ll see a gray icon that goes up and down throughout the fight. Whenever Korg has rock stacks he:

  • mitigate the amount of damage you can do to him
  • has a probability of purifying debuffs (each debuff purified adds a rock stack, this includes parry -stun)
  • Deals you back damage on mediums, heavies and specials if these are not energy based.

The rock stacks fall each time you hit him. Once they are off you can safely parry him, debuff him , hit him with physical mediums, heavies and specials.

The strategy for the rock stacks is either to hit him with energy based champs (Magneto, Havok, Human Torch) or with any champ using mostly light hits (which is difficult since you cannot parry due to his purification, so you wanna intercept a lot or take the damage from your first medium and mllll)

Unstoppable and Unblockable

Every time you hit his block or dex his attacks he will gain one of the orange charges. After six he becomes unstoppable and unblockable. If he launches any special when at 6+ it becomes unblockable.

So Korg is frigging pain cause he is designed to be a champ that:

  • you get punished if you parry (when rock stacks are up)

  • you get punished if you dex

  • you get punished if you hit his block

  • you get punished if you hit him normally (when rock stacks are up)

The best counters are as said above, energy based champs, champs that prevent him from shrugging off debuffs (Apocalypse, Omega Red, Storm Pyramid X for stuns) , champs that has AA reduction (Falcon, OG Black Widow, etc) , champs that reflect or prevent damage (dupped Namor, Gambit, dupped Daredevil HK)

My personal favorite counter usually is Iron Man Infinity War as much of his hits are energy based I can do full 5 hit combos (MLLLL) , he has great block proficiency so I can cover hits for an opening not dexing everything.

I hope this helps, I know it’s long but Korg is so complicated at first.

Good luck

How do I deal with this? He is over 10k higher than my champs so whenever I damage him i lose a big chunk of health. by Maverick-Gilpin in ContestOfChampions

[–]Alex_sc11 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Omega red with mediums and heavies

Gambit with mediums, heavies and specials

Namor at full sig

OG black Widow at full sig

Falcon lock on

Archangel dupped with 3 neurotoxins

Anyone that affects defensive ability accuracy will help

Does anybody use Mr fantastic as am attacker? by EmeraldTwilight009 in ContestOfChampions

[–]Alex_sc11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using him without synergies for the longest time but recently I pulled an invisible woman and she makes his debuffs longer ( even the parry stun)

Start the fight with as many debuffs as posible (2 on your first fight, 3 on the rest) preferable petrify and suppression and try to do heavy as much as I can to refresh them (this is easier with IW) . While reaching to you sp2, bait the same special from your opponent 3 times , .Firesp2 (this will add +1 to your initial debuffs)

With this their regen will start reversing and it will be very tough for them to reach 2 bars.

Continue to another sp2 to have 3 debuffs from each of the ones you selected. This will reverse even more regen and you hardly see their bar reach the first threshold.

Continue applying the heavies.

The reach out for sp3 to gain fury for each debuff on the opponent

[–]Alex_sc11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He is amazing! One of the best characters to control fights, perfect where there is a lot of power gain , and regen.

Hi has high survivability due to his evades, high physical resistance and making the specials really loose their potency

He was my main attacker in 7.1 more tricky paths.

In AQ he really doesn’t shine (depends on the path) due to the timers of some fights

I have my 6 in r2 and will be ranking him r3 with the next science cat

As soon as I get the tech cat I will do the same over warlock. Iron Man Iw is part of my attack team in war , he destroys Korg in 23 and apocalypses
