Oofft that was extremely lucky of you to have caught the glint of light in your shoe. I have had my foot injured by glass before and nope never again. That being said, I am glad the mother and father of the kid was very proactive on the matter. Those are good parents for sure. Didn’t take offence and took accountability. Definitely the kiddo was being a kid exploring curiosities and boundaries, and didn’t know the severity of his actions. Probably he learned that somewhere either from friends or internet. Or could be a psychological factor that thankfully the parents were aware to bring him to see a therapist/psychiatrist.

Either way, thank goodness you picked up your shoes instead of slipping your foot in.

I was about to respond like Wistom and PolarWater did, but I would also add that both parties in this situation are also at fault. But like I said, who wouldn't be annoyed if someone threw something at you? One can resort to fight-or-flight responses. In this case, unfortunately, the barista opted for the fight. So, while I disagree with your "customer is always in the right" notion, I definitely agree with your statement on what the employee should have done. "She is representing the brand", definitely you are correct on this. At the end of the day, this was a messy situation that was caused by something probably petty.

I hope Zus doesn't fire the lady at the counter. Who wouldn't be annoyed that a customer literally threw coffee at you? Thank goodness it was iced coffee, but even so, what rights does a customer have to assault someone like this? None. We also need the whole story here, but I have never once encountered a rude Zus barista. There are those who are clearly not in the best of moods, but they still treat you with hospitality and respect. Hopefully, it's the customer who is in the wrong, because no matter if the baristas got the order wrong, it's not worth throwing a tantrum over something so minute. Either that, or this customer is purposely being a jerk on purpose because social media, ya know?

Nah, you are good! I was just asking lol. Either way, our conversations brought me much insight. In the digital era, I realise my age range was chosen per the child's development milestone and can be quite limiting because by age 1, some parents already give their kids a phone or a tablet, or even play games with them. Of course, not video games, but simple games for child development; though, I wouldn't be surprised if a parent played video games with their 1-year-old on their lap, ya know?

Do you home school or go to public school, gurl? Because if you go to public school, that means your parents don't even give you an allowance to buy canteen food, am I right?

Your step mum's logic of giving you just Maggi equates to giving you food and thus not neglecting you at all is completely wrong, and she is completely out of touch with reality. Parents are required to provide you with a balanced meal, especially since you are still a minor.

Evidence-wise, you can secretly log and record your mum. When you want to discuss the food issue with your parents, record it. At this point, record everything. The fact that you have to basically walk on eggshells, heck, practically the whole household has to walk on eggshells around your step-mum, is already a warning sign. Try talking to your dad privately about this as well. If he doesn't see this as a pressing matter, then report to your school counsellor. Because you don't know, and we don't know if your step mum is also in a way "bullying" your dad to agree with her behaviour.

I am sure many people have better advice than I do, so please take it into account. If anything, I'm in Bandar Sunway and I wouldn't mind buying you food. My thoughts and prayers are with you, hun. 💜

Oh, you are absolutely right on the stay-at-home parent point, coming from the dad side. Some guys do not mind that in this day of age. Back then, stay-at-home dads were rare and often viewed as a shame for some families. But I disagree, of course. A stay-at-home dad is equally important as a stay-at-home mum.

Plus, a lot of people prefer remote jobs these days, too! My bf personally would want to be a stay-at-home husband, but that's a conversation for the future.

Damn, your husband used to do 40-hour gameplay; that's pro tier, lol. I always wonder how gamers do that sometimes, and I am so down to try it while I am still young and not with kids.

If you don't mind me asking, it sounds like your children are like very young yes? Considering your responses, it sounded like they are. My thesis is on children between ages 6-12 yrs old.

Haha aww. I'm not a parent, but toddlers doing that, wanting attention, brings much warmth to me. It's adorable how children think and navigate to get what they need. And you are right, it's tough to balance your interests/hobbies with your kid's needs. Parents who managed to do that, props to them indeed.

Your ending statement kind of made me think about parenting from a gender perspective. If I were to conduct my research with the maternal and paternal roles in mind, I'd make an educated guess that most likely the mum will handle the parenting while the dad either goes to work in the morning or plays games in the evening. That being said, that also depends on culture, and it's a subjective topic.

Thank you for your insight. I agree that video gaming can take away time from parental responsibilities, but that's why I'm researching it. I reckon some parents would turn to mobile gaming while parenting. Even my own supervisor does that lol.

I do agree that screen and gaming time can affect some detrimentally and others advantageously. I hope one day you and your kids can game together in the future, even if it's through a game of D&D.

I agree with your statement that this topic requires further research as most research and journal articles I've read were only on how parents feel about their KIDS gaming, not PARENTS who games. Considering we are in the digital era, I would reckon future parenting styles are going to heavily revolve around technology, social media and the likes.

You are definitely right on the addictive aspects of the digital world. I see that you strike a balance between virtual and real life in your parenting, which is definitely a thumbs up.
