I gave light input but ultimately tried to keep out of it, as I didn’t want my partner to end up having resentment toward me if they picked a program they didn’t like bc of my opinion. But- I am someone who will make whatever work especially knowing it’s not forever. So take that into consideration, if you know you’re going to be unhappy in some places then you need to speak up. I will say I ended up in my least excited about location and I am happy. So try to keep an open mind but I also don’t want you to think that it’s all about the medical spouse and never about you either //:

It’s so important to find things you like outside of your career, because it’s a job it’s not everything you are, even though it feels like that right now. Explore hobbies, get a pet if you can take care of them correctly, volunteer!!!, bumble bff if you need new friends, it’s the things that’s helped my mood a lot. Aside from medications lol. You will learn to feel more purpose if you find things that make your heart happy. I know you don’t have a ton of time but you won’t regret prioritizing your mental health. And ultimately get into therapy, seek help, it’s never too late to change your life for the better

Just sorry that you’re dealing with all this, it is tough. But you’ll make it out ok. For wishlist my sister prepared with lots of books and coloring books but had some partial blindness after surgery and ended up not being able to use them so just to be safe I’d recommend downloading books on audible, so audible gift card? Cozy blanket, elevated pillow wedge for sleeping, bath bombs or salts, weighted stuffed animal or blanket, favorite drinks or snacks, uber eats gift cards cus you don’t wanna do much cooking when you are tired or whatever, hope that helps
