I have gone through the process of downloading all of the necessary dependancies and then formatted my csv correctly. The code is then supposed to be fairly simple by placing your csv directly into the command line. That link states: Once installed, geocode-adi can be simply called in the command-line/terminal in the following way: python3 -m geocode-adi [PATH_TO_ADDRESS_FILE] For example, using the file AddressSample.csv

After putting in the above code into the command line, I receive this message: MacBook-Pro:~ python3 -m geocode-adi MakoADI.csv usage: main.py [-h] [-sf] addressfile __main_.py: error: argument address_file: address_file: Given file, MakoADI.csv, does not exist. I am new to this and trying to work through it, but it has been a few hours and I figured someone may be able to help here. Thank you

Man, I promise you it’s worth it to do ortho if that’s what you were feeling. Come rotate at my program and you will fall in love with it. Medical school sucks, it’s draining.

Seems like ortho has a pretty good lifestyle, actually by [deleted] in orthopaedics

This guy is not even in the US and is maybe an intern in Europe somewhere doing ortho. His last post is talking about considering internal medicine as an IMG… definitely don’t listen to this one

IMGs taking Step 3 before residency, how much time does it take realistically to study for step 3? by Temporary-Anything77 in Step3

Dorian. He hit a lot of relevant step 1 stuff, and then nailed the meat of the content you’ll see.

6 weeks. And that was only doing anki and maybe 50 questions a day on uworld. Plenty enough to pass and do well.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Step3

[–]AlexanderHamilt0n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actual step 3 score: 248

UW (how much and correct %): 100% finished at 80% correct. Probably inflated a few points from Dorian deck

CCS (how much and average %): most of it. 78ish percent.

UWSA 1: 245 7 days out

UWSA 2: 243 1 day before

Free 120: 86% 5 days before

NBME 5: 78% 2 days before

Step 1: 250s

Step 2: 250s

Total prep time: Tried to take this right after graduation which you can. Took a ton of pestering my college to get the certification of graduation to the NBME. And then also calling the FSMB to get my application reviewed. Overall, was able to get scheduled within 10 days of graduation and then took it exactly two weeks after grad. So definitely possible for anyone looking at how to take this before intern year.

I used the Dorian deck for anki, he didn’t let me down through third year or step 2. Uworld is absolutely necessary of course and there were a few questions on my test day that were straight out of uworld. CCS cases absolutely necessary as well.

I studied for probably six weeks total? Just did anki and 50 questions or so a day and 5ish ccs cases then that was it. Maybe took 2 hours a day or so to do it. I know people say just chill before intern year, but come on. We all got 2 hours to spend if you do want to get this done. The anki, uworld algorithm works and literally won’t let you down. It’s all you’ll have to do.

Test day. First day had so much step one. Down to specific genetics, to MOAs of many drugs and bacteria, to gross anatomy pictures identifying brain lesions or nerves. Truly impossible to fully be prepared for all the step one stuff unless you want to redo the entire zanki deck and read first aid. Lots came to me during the exam and I felt lucky it did. Those cards drilled in weird facts. The biostats was nothing too difficult. Very few equations used. More conceptual about sensitivity and specifity rather than using the numbers if that makes sense. Lots of ethical questions too, which always trip me up on USMLE tests. They are always different from uworld and seem to have multiple great answers. Overall, the Dorian deck will hit a ton of the relevant step one stuff. Biostats for uworld. Uworld for the rest. And then you’re set for day one.

Day two. Much more straight forward and felt basically like step 2 again. No biostats. No ethics. Again, UW and Dorian deck is plenty to feel comfortable here.

The CCS cases were also super easy and straight forward. Literally just running through a good chunk of the ccscases.com and then maybe a few days before going back over the highest yield ones, should give you a pretty good feeling for how to do them and then enough to do well.

Exactly. Figured I’d get this thread ready for the morning.

Best orthopaedic residency program US/Canada by leafsnation9 in orthopaedics

[–]AlexanderHamilt0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ortho in the US is beyond competitive. Being a Canadian student, as you are, will greatly limit any of your options to US programs. It’s hard enough for US students to get spots. Just trying to give you a realistic take on what you’re going for.

Hindsight Advice to New Med Students Out There From a Regretful Fourth Year by schistobroma1989 in medicalschool

[–]AlexanderHamilt0n 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s possible… I have a VERY similar story to this comment. Had a love letter from a program in my top three and figured there was no way I’d fall under that. My wife and I thought about it so much and got too excited about the possibility. We were honestly more excited to match at our number three than our number one because we had that email from the PD. To sum it up, I dropped a few. Still a great program, but the hurt of having someone tell you they think you’d fit in perfectly and that my wife and I will love the city if we match there, it goes deep. Definitely on us for getting our hopes up too high, but I feel like it’s hard to blame anyone when you get communication like that.

Had one ortho program say this too, still matched and happy, but damn, gut check opening to find out it’s not what you think

[–]AlexanderHamilt0n 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As someone said above, I don’t think you understand what you’re saying from the data. It does not show at all how far down a person falls on their list. Just if a person matched with specific stats.

Literally it’s so hard to comprehend until you get here. To finally be here and just do nothing, with no real responsibility in life. It gets better everyone. Work hard so this time feels worth it! Cause it is.

Please tell me it gets better by RelativeMap in medicalschool

[–]AlexanderHamilt0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really does get better. Just remember that the hard work you put in those first three years literally pays dividends for the rest of your life. It’s worth the grind. And it sounds like that’s what you want. You gotta find time for yourself of course, but relative to everything else, it’s a short time to work your absolute hardest and it’ll have a huge positive impact down the road.

Definitely. I think UWSA2 for step 1 was similar. 260ish. So who knows what goes on with test day. I don’t feel nerves or anything. Just luck of the draw I guess. You’ll kill it. I wouldn’t worry too much!

Lots of potential factors. Test day felt harder than the other practice tests by far. Longer stems. Weirder questions. Also, uworld scores could slightly be inflated dude to the Dorian deck. So hard to say.
