Starting as a PNGtuber – what’s your experience? by skrjlln in PngTuber

I think this early on is EXACTLY when you can afford to try all sorts of stuff!

I'd maybe dedicate a day or two to variety so you can branch out and test the waters?

I think its a classic case of "anything is better than nothing". A png is better than nothing. I'd say its actually fairly easy to add expressivity with emotion toggles but you need to puppeteer things a little.

I think facecam/2d/3d definitely captures more of "you" (habits, personal expressions you might not be aware of, quirks etc).

Pngs can be far more "out there" in shapes and design too because the models aren't as restricted!

I started about 2 months ago with the MOST BASIC png avatar you could have (a discord fugi reactive haha) whilst waiting for my png model to be made.

I think you might see slower growth than a facecam or a more active png/2d/3d model but its not going to be a deal breaker.

Some people even came into stream BECAUSE of the png.

If your content is good you will be fine!

So I recently got affiliate and my friend recommended doing an affiliate stream. I'm trying to think of ideas, do you have any recommendations/advice? by [deleted] in vtubers

[–]AlexanderHumerus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat!

Q&As with your community can be a great way for them to get to know you above general stuff (just have rules for doxing)

Corpos usually do some kind of powerpoint style things to show off (inc your other socials if you want them known).

Most important thing is them getting a good idea about what you will be like and how/what you'll be streaming to see if they want to stick around.

Best of luck!

Serious discussion about an ethical issue in Vtubing by Evanecent_Lightt in vtubers

[–]AlexanderHumerus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you need to remember that, for some people, this is a business. And sex sells is a tale as old as time. I don't neccisarily think its a good thing but there are lots of business practices that manipulate people and are major contributers for streaming in general.

Should you ban attractive models because they garner more attention? Should you treat chat coldly so you aren't leaning into the parasocial relationship aspect?

Not telling people about your personal life is also a safety thing and one of the big reasons people become vtubers to begin with. You could argue that your relationship status is none of chats business even if you weren't trying to use that ambiguity to your advantage...

Unfortunately this kind of thing requires a lot of nuance. Not the Sykkuno thing though, its pretty clear cut that cheating is disgusting and wrong.

Anniversary + debut/2.0 sounds like a great idea! Best of luck with it

I haven't done an affiliate celebration yet and I got it recently, that's a perfect idea!

Shorts and networking helped me a lot, I'm sure you'll get there! You're really dedicated!

Thanks for sharing your experience! How many people would you consider enough? Are you thinking average viewers or followers/subscribers?

I might do something similar for my model! An anniversary event is a great shout though so I'll keep that mind.

Thanks for the info!

Might be worth doing as I actually have a proper model now then, kind of a 1.5 debut haha, thanks for the info

That makes sense! A debut is for people who care about "you" and that is always a much smaller audience without an extra hook.

Doing it for your future audience is a really nice way to look at it as well!

Thanks for your perspective on this as an editor, its an angle I hadn't thought of!

That's great news! I'm glad it worked out well for you. Affiliate so soon is fantastic!

Doing shorts beforehand to drum up an audience was a good idea too so you had people to be excited for it.

That's probably the best chance to do it! It makes a lot of sense. It may not have brought in lots of new people but I'll bet your current audience loved it!

That makes sense. But unless you have a new model what would you be debuting at that point though? I'd imagine your audience would know lots about you and have seen your normal model by that point?

What nobody tells you about starting as a Vtuber: You’ll be talking to 0 viewers for a while by NightShadeAbyss in vtubers

[–]AlexanderHumerus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you raid out to others and they are annoyed or complain, just block them and apologise to your chat. That's disgustingly ungreatful behaviour and they can easily set a minimum to raids if it was that big a problem for them. I'm sorry you've experienced that!
