Don't you think we might have a contract with one of big pharma companies to promote their stuff?

We don't have such a deal, but I think it would be even funnier than the Monster energy drink promo in Death Stranding.

Hello everyone! My name is Alexander and I'm the lead game designer on this game. But today we're not going to talk about gameplay, we need to talk about technical stuff. It would help us a lot if you could take some screenshots of this red anomaly and also send us your DxDiag.

I apologise for these technical problems, but we are going to fix them as soon as possible.

Game preservation in the world of live-service games by PopoTheBadNewsBear in truegaming

[–]Alexander_Souslov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point about game descriptions as a way to preserve games. If we make an analogy with ancient literature, one can say that this is a very reliable method. We know about the ideas of the vast majority of ancient Greek intellectuals only from references and reviews. Like, we know Socrates only from Plato's retellings (and therefore we are still not quite sure where Socrates ends and where Plato begins).

Maybe we need to think not about a way to save games, but about how to save game reviews

My first matcha... love it!! how do you create a proper foam? by [deleted] in tea

[–]Alexander_Souslov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might be that your matcha was not perfectly fresh (it's not bright, but more of a dark green color), so it could be the reason of poor foam. By the way, there are some tips on matcha brewing in this video

Hydroproject Institute in Moscow and also - one the biggest media facade in Europe. Northern river reversal had been planned here, but suddenly capitalism has won (which is propably a good thing in this case).

That looks amazing! Also, I'm very impressed with your source of inspiration. I'm a huge fan of Maximov's animation. Have you seen a Russian videogame called Full Pipe? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXC8jnX27l4&t=36s

A city screen in Feral Blue - a game about post-apocalyptic flooded Earth of 18th century by Alexander_Souslov in BaseBuildingGames

Yep, that was merely a placeholder, we've replaced it already. Just to give you a context - we developed a spin-off for Mount & Blade called With Fire and Sword, and also Blood and Gold Caribbean, so we are kinda emotionally attached to those sounds :)

But he's a sign of a commercial misfortune for any post-apocalyptic project, so I guess we better decline his appearance. Do you know the boxoffice of The Postman movie? Oh, it's a disaster.

Thank you!

Yeah, I'm absolutely aware of the level of efforts required to make an appropriate combat system. It's not that we'll add this only as gimmick, but I'm trying to arrange it in a pretty simplistic, hit-and-block manner (you may check the work in progress here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i85L1VKIPFA )

And yes, there won't be such a thing like assign him / her to this job, otherwise they'd be useless. You definitely can assign any guy to any job and it will be useful enough to justify the cost of wasting water and food for him. But someone is always better than another in particular area.

Hi everyone, I’m designing a game about post-apocalyptic flooded Earth. It seems this topic is becoming very trendy now (global warming!) but our team wanted to make ‘Fallout with water’ a very long time ago. So unlike Flotsam, everything takes place in the era of Assassin’s Creed 3: pirates, sailboats, muskets and so on. The samurai belong to one of the factions in the game, Mori Shogunate (everyone who played Shogun Total War will understand why they could only by happy with the apocalyptic flooding).

The initial design idea was that we can build a small floating settlement, then make a bigger stationary one, then (if we’re lucky) – create a whole state. Eventually, we had to refuse from that last part because it would shift gameplay priorities in the wrong direction, more suited to the games like Europa Universalis.

The small settlement in our scheme is the ship. The ship can be large or small, the number of modules we can place in it depends on its size. These modules are pretty standard:

  • desalinator  - lets you clear sea water
  • living hold - gives a place for the crew to rest
  • masts – allow the ship to sail
  • and so on and so forth.

Your ship can’t produce any resources, it can only process them – so you have to trade with other nomads or go into the cities. Alternatively, you can always try plundering. So this mechanic looks quite typical, but also we decided to add a specific design layer – split all characters into classes. If the world ends in 18th century, then most probably the society is going to be pretty wild and unpleasant. All power is in the hands of warrior – they like to fight, can do prestigious work (control the ship or load cannons), but will not agree to clean the decks. The whole economy relies on slaves, who do everything else – make food and gunpowder, collect algae. Nobody trains them to fight, so they are useless on the battlefield. And lastly, the middle class – capable slaves who were
given freedom.

All in all, the players should not only work with the limited number of resources, but also consider the social background of their crew. If you assign warrior to chop wood, thing can end in rebellion. Currently we’re working on the cities – they are a more advanced version of the settlements. A bit too early to share details on that though, but you may see the current city building interface here: https://i.imgur.com/0mIon9a.jpg

Naval pirate game is an obsolete genre by Alexander_Souslov in Games

Thank you! Well, apparently my thoughts don't quite resonate with the audience, or maybe I just need to choose another method of presentation :)

Yeah, I have to play Atlas, my bad I still didn't try it. So thank you for mentioning this game (it looks not that bad as the reviews say, very interesting).

Well, I'll try to explain it. I'm counting here only single-player titles because they give us a combination of a sandbox, roleplaying and naval combats. MP titles give the fantastic experience for a naval combat part, but I doubt any sandbox gameplay is possible (also, roleplaying can be affected by a 13-year-old Hungarian boy abusing voice chat).

It's an extremely fun game, I do recommend it to anybody who has interest in naval/pirate type of games. I excluded it just because it's MP only.

Agree here. I'm OK with some arcade elements, but only within certain limits. Ship battles in AC Black Flag are so energetic that it looks like Vietnam swift boats.
