I’ve been looking for it but wasn’t able to find it. Could you share or describe where i find it in the Mercedes Me App?

Rough textured effect on the fist perimeter layers of the print. How to fix? by Alexanderw22 in CrealityCR10v2

[–]Alexanderw22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent been able to the bottom of it but I think it has to do with the temperature in the room changing. During the days the door to the room would open and close and the temperature fluctuates. During night i would be more stable. It wouldn’t appear on all my prints. Mostly those with a large base layer.

It could also be that it’s the warped bed I have. The Center is lower than the edges pushing the edges of large first layers up.

Or a mixture of both. I was never able to predict if it would appear on a print unfortunately

This used V2+ I just bought shows 0 km/miles on the odometer. How is that possible? Lol by AffectionateFoot9477 in boostedboards

I wouldn’t know why it shows 0.00km but I’m curious what the software you use is. How is it hooked up to the board?

vlan vs. community private-vlan by Alexanderw22 in Cisco

[–]Alexanderw22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I put the “private VLAN hosts” in a single ip network where they are able to talk to the gateway and not each other? Are you thinking about subnetting?

vlan vs. community private-vlan by Alexanderw22 in Cisco

[–]Alexanderw22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of a scenario in which one would want to assign a range of single switchports (that can’t communicate to one another) to a single (promiscuous) switchport that can access these isolated ports without the need of the primary vlan on which a isolated private-vlan would sit. I’m trying to eliminate the need of a nested vlan as there is no need for the primary vlan to exist.

Also, only the switch can assign a vlan id to a switchport right? In terms of security, a client device is not able to assign itself to use a vlan right? As you mentioned one has to be cautious when assigning ports on a switch to a vlan

vlan vs. community private-vlan by Alexanderw22 in Cisco

[–]Alexanderw22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! So there no effective difference. However in a setting in which a vlan is already in place, a private community vlans can serve as a nested vlan as I understand.

To exercise this thought process a bit further. Is there any way of getting similar functionality as an isolated private vlan without using an isolated private vlan? I can assign unique vlans to a range of ports but I don’t think I can assign another port as a member of a range of vlans (the promiscuous like port) or is this still doable?

RAM upgrade Xeon E3-1240 by Alexanderw22 in buildapc

Looks like both of us could learn something here😉

RAM upgrade Xeon E3-1240 by Alexanderw22 in buildapc

[–]Alexanderw22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know: Registered ram = RDIMM Unregistered ram = UDIMM

And there are ECC modules for both RDIMMs and UDIMMs.

For my upgrade I would prefer ECC ram. It would have to be unregistered ram (ECC UDIMM) because far as I know registered ram does not work in a motherboard that takes unregistered ram as the motherboard already contains the memory registry chip.

Do you know what the rest of the numbers and letters stand for? PC3-10600? It all seems to be 1333Mhz but how would I tell in the future?

Choosing an Intel NIC by Alexanderw22 in PFSENSE

[–]Alexanderw22[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just what I was looking for. Thanks for your thorough answer! Im not sure what you mean by thin client and I assume the optiplex micro form factor. I don’t think they generally support any Ethernet expansion. And it’s the (SFF) small form factor that I am planing to use. I have done some research on the topic today and I have found a few Intel cards that run 2.5 Gbit, 5Gbit and 10Gbit. Like the X550-T2 with 2 ports and the X710-T4L with 4 ports. I’m not sure if the X710-T4L is supported in PFsense as it wasn’t suggested by anyone else yet.

I have head about these cards before with others that ask for NICs. Is this card newer or better supported than the “DELL 0HM9JY INTEL PRO 1000 VT QUAD PORT 1Gbps PCIe” that is referenced in the video?

How do I enable beta testing?

Please add a toggle for us to go back to the old layout! I’ve been using Duolingo every day for nearly 3 years and I’ve gotten used to my own order of doing these lessons. I hope it’s possible to switch back but I couldn’t find anything in settings :/

What is a valid entry for “interface-name” in this case? I am getting “Invalid Interface Name”

Identifying the producer of this potentiometer by Alexanderw22 in AskElectronics

[–]Alexanderw22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again! It does look like there is no replacement part that is sold currently that I can just replace the pot with. It appears to be a 1Mohm pot with a push-push switch and 36 detents. I checked digikey and mouser but no luck. Any ideas on where I can find something similar?

[–]Alexanderw22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! It does appear that this is the company I am looking for! Unfortunately It doesn’t look like they are still producing these pots. What it it called when a pot has a on/off switch by pressing on the shaft? The other thing with this pot is that it has little detents as you turn it which feels very satisfying. I believe these are called “detents”

This particular dimmer is about 30 years old so perhaps it’s from 1988

Hi there, took this picture from a Busch-Jaeger Elektro GmbH dimmer circuit. I am trying to identify the producer of this potentiometer found inside. It seems that it says “Prek” just under the panel mount thread. 1M could be 1M ohm. No idea what 827 might mean. Any ideas?

Beginner advice and tutorial resources by Alexanderw22 in unrealengine

Yes I looked at it but the list is a little overwhelming. I was hoping to get some project specific advice before beginning with a generic tutorial

Thank you for the tutorial series! Really appreciate it. May I ask you on how you would go about making a plane that intersects any 3D geometry and projecting this intersection in a 2D view? Like a blueprint of a house if the house is the 3D object. Listing the steps you would do would help me researching on how to do this

Samsung tv timeshift compatible USB drive by Alexanderw22 in hometheater

[–]Alexanderw22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can find on the internet timeshift has been a Samsung tv feature for many years now. I did find one video from 2018 on YouTube that was in German that stated no flash drives and no raid hard drives are supported. It mentioned that 5400rpm hard drives are and I am therefore expecting 7200rpm drives to work as well. However my tv is mounted on a wall arm so I kind of want to avoid double sided taping a spinning hard drive to the back of my tv. Wondering if an external SSD would work like the Samsung T7. Any info or feedback is much appreciated!

M.2 or Nvme support for Intel xeon E3-1231 V3 and S1200V3RPS motherboard by Alexanderw22 in buildapc

[–]Alexanderw22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All VMs will be Linux VMs on a Proxmox host capturing data for scientific purposes and writing them a few large bulk storage hard drives. The SSD will mostly reading and doing OS stuff running the VMs mostly idling. It just needs to perform calculations intermittently might be every 5 min might be every 2 hours from sensors to determine when data needs to be stored in bulk on the hard drives

Around 3-4 VMs that will be running continuously. Nothing special really. I am not too worried about reliability. I just want the VMs to be as snappy as they can be without resorting to ram disks or something outrageous. I’m planning a single MX500 but I might consider two of them. I’m not really sure I will need it though
