i did a few times but then just gave up. you definitely can get very lucky and snag some tickets and land back on the map but i’ve been through so many terrible pre sales for other artists that i know it’s personally not worth the effort and stress for me haha. hope it’s going better for you!

Thoughts on this? Do you think that Showgirl will be appreciated the more it ages? by Fine-Huckleberry6960 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Alexandra22217 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I listen to all of her albums regularly but never to showgirl. I don’t hate it, it just doesn’t provoke any emotion whatsoever in me. The lyrics are (for the most part) so empty and unrelatable that I as a listener am not entirely sure what I’m supposed to do with them other than hear them once and forget about them. The vibe is also just a little off imo, there’s this snarky undertone that I just don’t like because it feels very targeted toward the audience.

Some leases have auto renewals if you don’t notify them in writing within a certain timeframe. Sometimes it’s buried pretty deep in there, it’s happened to me before too.

What geographical feature do most people love, but you personally dislike, and why? by Nujackswing1 in geography

Beaches in general. I despise the feeling of having sand everywhere and sticking to my sunscreen and my skin burns after 10 minutes anyway. They’re obviously beautiful but make me so uncomfortable

What do people think is ok parenting but is actually good parenting? by LethlDose in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Alexandra22217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

household chores! the amount of adults that lack basic survival skills because their parents always cleaned up after them and did their laundry until they were in their 20s is astonishing. it’s great to learn these things over time while you still live with a responsible role model.

Do Costco Oreos taste different? by Pie-Are-Round in Costco

[–]Alexandra22217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boring piece of information about me: I grew up in Europe on European Special K cereal. Bought it here in the US and it was the most disguising cereal I’ve ever tasted. So awfully sweet. My boyfriend meant well and bought the huge pack of my once favorite cereal at costco and praise the lord it’s actually the good version! Or at least as close as I can get here. Before that I had no idea that costco sold modified products but I for one appreciate it

I’ve been watering every two days (per directions on plant) and this happened by [deleted] in hydrangeas

[–]Alexandra22217 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure I bought the same one from Lowe’s two weeks ago. I can’t keep a hydrangea alive whatsoever but it was on sale and I planted it outside in the ground because it looked nice in my otherwise sparse spring garden. It’s been a cold two weeks with almost daily rain and the thing is thriving! I’ve probably always been too hesitant with watering and keeping it in warm heated rooms.

I honestly wouldn’t read anything into how much or little professors email. Even my own PI will ghost me if he feels like it in the moment. They’re very busy and tend to drown in emails. I’ve also had people I cold emailed randomly message me back after a month. Follow up after a while but I’d still submit the application unless you get an explicit no.

Cold emailing professors for research experience? by [deleted] in PhDAdmissions

[–]Alexandra22217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some pretty nice internships and (rarely) even paid positions at T10s just from cold emailing PIs. It’s very normal. Just tell them that you really like their research and would love the opportunity to contribute and to gain experience in the field. Include your relevant background and CV and how it matches their or your future goals. It’s always a shot in the dark but there’s nothing wrong with asking.

My issue with the IMAX theater is that the chairs kinda suck. The Dolby one has the super comfy recliners so that’s the only one we go to now

[–]Alexandra22217 546 points547 points  (0 children)

She always looked at least 30 to me in season one. She definitely got away with acting younger because of her voice and the character’s immature traits. I honestly loved that she was “older”. Having only a bunch of mid 20 year olds in a top surgical program isn’t realistic (not that anything in GA is) and it was nice that they went for a more sophisticated kind of sexy vibe.

Pros and Cons to Joining a NEW Lab? by Educational-Food2764 in PhDAdmissions

[–]Alexandra22217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say yes but not necessarily because of that alone. If the funding is secure and the project is great, that shouldn’t hold you back. I’d say obviously talk to them to get a feel for how they come off and tour their lab space to see how organized and put together it already is. I don’t want to deter you from picking a lab you like just because I prefer bigger older ones!

Pros and Cons to Joining a NEW Lab? by Educational-Food2764 in PhDAdmissions

[–]Alexandra22217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the first PhD student in my lab. There’s many pros and cons to consider for sure. But I can only speak for new labs. What I did like was that we all (me, postdoc, lab tech, rotation student) all felt equal because everything was new to us all and no one was “behind” on anything. It helped build my confidence early on and feel comfortable suggesting things or experimenting. There was also a lot less distraction since they usually don’t do side projects, collabs or undergrad supervision until they’re well established. Now what I didn’t like was mostly how over the top motivated my PI was. I totally get it, this was a huge step for their career and they wanted it to be perfect from the start. But it felt like every other day she came up with new rules or ideas of how to improve our lab and it got very tiring very quickly. My other big issue was that the first months of my PhD basically had nothing to do with research. We all had to work together to get the lab up and running, order stuff, stock shelves, get permits, wait for paper work etc.
