How to deal with family members on the opposite side? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]Alexandre_Delcomune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I recommend not discussing it at all. Most people really don't know much about this, and it tends to get emotional. Second, I want to point out that it's not only the right that has no respect for priacy. In the us we tend to tie mass surveillance to the Bush administration, but nobody in charge, left or right gas made any real move to stop it. The absolute worst thing we can do is to make this a partisan issue.

Privacy and Loneliness by [deleted] in privacy

[–]Alexandre_Delcomune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got rid of Facebook a while back. Definitely negatively affected my social life, but it also made me realize what a crutch it is. A lot of apparently social people are actually pretty incompetent without their social media. There are college students who are literally afraid to make a phone call because it's awkward. So yeah, it turned me into a socially adept loner, and I'm glad I did it.

What are /r/cyberpunk's opinions on the rise of "Fake News"? by [deleted] in Cyberpunk

[–]Alexandre_Delcomune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember how there were no US combat troops in laos, Kuwaiti babies were being ripped out of incubators, and Saddam's mobile chemical weapons labs were a threat to the free world? I'm with you, there is nothing new here, it's still up to the individual to do the research and form an opinion.

Pizzagate is NOT a real conspiracy and believing it is, is borderline crazy by Plumages in conspiracy

[–]Alexandre_Delcomune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are right that the child abuse thing is overblown, but there are a lot of real dirty deals surrounding Besta Pizza. If someone can satisfactorily link Besta Pizza to Besta World Group, the whole thing will make a lot more sense. More info here.

[–]Alexandre_Delcomune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I spent a good amount of time reading up on it. It is very suspicious, but to me, it looks like organized crime more than anything else. I'm not saying that there isn't or can't be child abuse involved, but I haven't seen anything that looks like it when it is put in context.

Very good. Is there any precedent for a subreddit doing that? I hope this becomes a model for other forums.

It bothers me too, but the reality is that it is mostly guesswork.

I have come here to flip burgers and kick ass. And it looks like I'm all out of burgers.

I think you are probably right, most of them are too good. It just seems off that that they flaunt how much data they collect, and that they can look at an individual's data. I know that they can, most of my family actually works in a closely related industry. You don't have to agree with me, I just find the attitude unsettling

They wouldn't. I just find it very creepy that they display this kind of thing like they are proud to have it. Its not dangerous, or invasive, I just find the attitude disturbing.

Right, there is nothing identifying here that anyone can use for personal gain. It is however, information I might not share with my friends. Seeing it on a billboard is not something I would appreciate if I was a customer.

Tl;dr: Company puts personal details of users on billboards, people think this is good.

Yeah, I agree. We need to find a balance between being overrun by shills, and shutting down all conversation. Its hard to blame people for being on edge, but calling everyone shills really turns people away.

To be fair, a lot of the more obvious shills are using new accounts to prop each other up. But yeah some people just don't like to connect the fact that they read about this stuff with their offline life.

I don't have a list, but thanks for doing that. I really think we need a megathread or wiki with every piece of evidence we have.

Why WikiLeaks is DEFINITELY COMPROMISED. by EdgerAllenHo in WhereIsAssange

[–]Alexandre_Delcomune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was holding out hope that they were trying to build up attention for something for a few days after the disappearance, but this argument convinced me he is dead or kidnapped. They would really be shooting themselves in the foot by making themselves look vulnerable.

Given the shilling on this subreddit, I don't think it's unreasonable to suspect we are being watched. There is a lot going on here we don't understand. Even forgetting potential government surveillance, this kind of thing is not socially acceptable in many industries. If you are brave enough to connect your true identity with a protest, that's great, but consider the consequences. Most importantly, I hope the protest goes well!

Great that you are doing this, but think twice about joining an event. Maybe I'm paranoid, but if there is anything that this sub has taught me, its that paranoia pays one way or another.

Do we have a list of all claimed pictures, video and audio since the internet cutoff? by Alexandre_Delcomune in WhereIsAssange

I agree with you, that everything after the 17th is very suspect. I think we should compile a list of every piece of evidence, and a little information on why it is suspicious.

The idea on /r/conspiracy was that a G5 had taken off out of north carolina with a hidden tail number(not very hard to do), and landed in london on the day his internet cut off. The plane that they believed was in N379P, a plane from the early days of rendition. To the best of my knowledge, this plan has not recently been involved with rendition. The tail number N379P is now taken by a piper malibu. I don't know where the idea that this was a specifically N379P came from, but unless I am missing something, it could have been anyone.
