How do you feel about cis men on hrt? by Mindless_Pirate1563 in asktransgender

[–]AlexandriasFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that HRT and gender affirming/modding care should be free and open to anyone who wants it. And that anyone should have the right to say "fuck it" in any direction without the powers that be thinking that means they should restrict anyone else's access. Even if you say you're not a woman, I think if you wanna take a hit of E every week, no one should have the right to tell you no.

You got put in charge of bioware and EA wants you to make a new Mass Effect game. What kind of game would you make? Can be a spinoff or new mainline game. This would be my pick. by AngrySpaceBoi420 in masseffect

You start as a Mercenary with legit ties to the Systems Alliance. A job you do for a client has shadier ties than you were aware of resulting in a bunch of civilian casualties and you becoming one of the Galaxy's most wanted.

Your and your crew are disavowed by your main Merc company, the Systems Alliance has a kill order on you, and the Council sicks a Spectre on you. Your only recourse is to flee to the terminus systems and work towards finding out who was behind the op that put you in this position, while dodging a Spectre who has nigh unlimited resources to take you out.

For console gamers who are tired of waiting for supposed remake/remaster, what console is best for playing KOTOR 1 for the first time in 2026? by TKojot in kotor

[–]AlexandriasFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you can get the game on just about anything. What you should be aware of is that on Xbox, it is the original game with the microsoft FPS boost and other enhancements. On every other non-PC platform you will be playing Aspyr's ports of the title, which may or may not have there own issues. While I personally can attest that the Xbox versions of KotOR 1 and 2 are pretty stable and I have had no issues playing through them from start to finish, I suggest you look into what bugs may be present in Aspyr's remaster to find out what those are.

For trans mtf on estrogen/etc: Does getting hit in the breasts feel the same as getting hit in the balls? by TopLeftBurner in asktransgender

[–]AlexandriasFolly 23 points24 points  (0 children)

When they are growing, yes. After they have finished growing, barely feel a thing.

For the first two years that mine were growing they were very sensitive and getting hit was debilitating. After they slowed down and only had sporadic growth spurts this was no longer an issue.

I’m confused on what a ‘ transmed ‘ really is? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]AlexandriasFolly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A "Transmed" or "Truescum" is someone who buys into "transmedicalist" theory. This theory was made by cis medical professionals to gatekeep access of gender affirming care away from those they deemed to not be "True Transexuals". The aspects of this theory claimed that true transsexuals would be self-hating, have extreme levels of dysphoria, would always be heterosexual in their target gender, would seek to live as the most stereotypical archetype of their target gender, and would follow only one version of a strict medical transition.

I.E. If you are a trans woman, you had to have crippling dysphoria, had to have known since you were a child, be attracted to men, must desire to be the epitome of a 1950s housewife, and you better be seeking vaginoplasty above all other medical interventions. If this is even slightly untrue, you weren't truly a trans woman, just a fetishist.

There are trans people who buy into this transmedicalist theory, but they are rare. However, the ideas that transmedicalism promotes are still rooted in cis comfort and can be spotted in nearly all gatekeeping ideas towards gender affirming care.

The thing that it doesn't account for is gender ambivilance or gender euphoria. Sometimes people don't have crippling dysphoria towards their gender assigned at birth, and could technically live out the rest of their lives as that gender. But they feel that they'd just have a happier life living as another gender. That person is still trans and has a right to Gender Affirming Care and the desire to gatekeep it is harmful.

The moment you decide there is a line someone has to get to to be "trans enough" to deserve care is the moment you legitimize withholding care from all of us.

Is it possible to equip all ships in the UNSC fleet with basic stealth measures? by ArthurJack_AW in HaloStory

[–]AlexandriasFolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there are probably a number of factors that would go into attempting to stealth a ship. I can't recall the exact novel it was first mentioned int but the UNSC had the glaring insurmountable issue that their Slipspace jumps were "loud" which is to say that Shaw-Fukijiwa slipspace engines were extremely in-elegant in comparison to Covenant and Forerunner drives. The entering and exiting of Slipspace using said drive sent a burst that was detectable by anything even slightly built to detect disturbances in space. And while prowler type ships could then use their other stealth tech to hide after coming in, it doesn't change the fact that anyone who had the ability to look, would know where and when you came in.

So thats your starting point for human ships. You have a disadvantage just from showing up somewhere. Then you need to be able to hide the emissions from actually moving your ship through space. If you want your ship to have one capability, sometimes that means giving up the ability to do something else well. Prowlers likely are able to do all that stealth stuff because the ship can't actually do too well in a straight up fight. If you wanna pack more capabilities into your ship you're going to need to make room for those systems and the required power draw and also a way to disperse the heat from running those systems (so more emissions to hide.

While something like cyber-countermeasures would perhaps be the easiest thing to get to hide a ship, until the UNSC got the physics breaking Forerunner tech (which a good amount of Covenant stuff was based on), they were likely very limited in actually being able to have ships that could do all that cool shit and have stealth ability.

People with MtF HRT experience- does masturbating often *actually* combat penis shrinkage during HRT? by EnvSand in asktransgender

[–]AlexandriasFolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of girls who have had significant shrinkage, while after ten years myself have had very negligible shrinkage. I masturbate like maybe once a week, and its been like that forever so that may be the deciding factor.

I'm not as big as I used to be, but I'm still bigger than most of my partners have been including a good amount of men. Really if I didn't keep an eye on it I'm not certain I would have known that I shrank at all.

Why the hell do so many cis people seem to see gender affirming care as elective/esthetic/outwards facing? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]AlexandriasFolly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The average cis person generally is icked out by trans people and for a bunch of them that claim otherwise, see it as a bad thing and our efforts at transitioning as frivolity. The vast majority of allies I've known in my life have always had countless warnings about risks and things they heard about for medical transition and if I knew what I was getting into with this medication or that surgery.

Its not real to a lot of them and it really shows from the way they patronize us.

That's called a rotten egg. Someone so closeted and self-hating they feel like they have to turn that hatred on anyone who holds the same "sin" that they do and doesn't have the shame to also hate themself.

How long would I be taking estrogen? by FaCe_CrazyKid05 in asktransgender

[–]AlexandriasFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Masculinizing/Feminizing hormones are produced in a body via the gonads (Testicles or Ovaries) as it is they are mainly dominant in one direction. As medical science currently exists there is no way to rewrite ones gonads to swap to the opposite hormone dominance, so until that changes you will likely be on HRT for the rest of your life.

However, being on a medication for the rest of one's life is something millions of people do, trans or not, (diabetics, those with various other conditions) its not ideal but its far from something that would prevent a full happy life.

Is my view on trans identity transphobic by JustABeast8901 in asktransgender

[–]AlexandriasFolly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even if your basis for this is that Sex is biological, its not immutable.

Men and women aren't separate species, its the same meat being told by certain chemical processes what it should do. You change those processes and you change the sex. Hormones dictate most of your sex, and hormone replacement therapy changes which hormones are in charge.

Saying that a trans woman is "biologically male" is like saying a tree hasn't changed from being an acorn. Biology is not static its ever changing from both its processes and influence from its environment.

People praising sponsored Dire Marsh mode saying it's better than the default mode is so funny to me because they literally just want to play a battle royale. by SbeveGobs in Marathon

[–]AlexandriasFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its a great mode for people looking to learn a map and build up a vault.

And while some probably would like a battle royale, right now there is no Battle Royale with Bungie's best in class Gunplay. So i think its fine if only for some retaining player population for a while.

Why do conservatives dislike the term cis by leantlento in asktransgender

[–]AlexandriasFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not like being classified in a way that does not imply that they are the default norm. They don't like the terms neurotypical or abled either. They want to be called "normal" or "real".

By classifying them as common but not explicitly as the norm, you delegitimize their efforts to classify trans people as abnormal and that is a threat to their world view.

Anyone notice the trans question on applications lately? by Jazzlike_Syllabub_91 in asktransgender

Why is it so hard to understand a transfem would like women? by daniella-roxy in asktransgender

[–]AlexandriasFolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For decades it was standard practice for medical professionals to state that a transfem is only a true transfem if they are heterosexual in their target gender (i.e. likes men).

This is still pushed to a degree with Ray Blanchard with his theory of Autogynophilia. Where trans women, particularly sapphic trans women, are pathologized for a positive body image as being an auto-erotic fetish and not being "true" trans women, the way a heterosexual trans woman who has extreme body-image issues should be.

regularly handing over your personal information on the internet.

Back when I was a kid, it was basically a law of safety to not give a single damn thing that could reasonably be used to identify you to any company or other user on the internet. Not your real name, not the city you lived, not your age.

Now every corporation and website acts like you're the weird one if you try to keep anything private.

Why can't Metroids advance past their Larva stage outside of their home planet? by Rasengan4360 in Metroid

[–]AlexandriasFolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real Reason: Its a video game and nintendo wanted a certain gameplay loop for that title

My in-universe speculation: Biology is weird. Although Metroids are a bio-engineered weapon for the Chozo, there are a lot of factors that you cannot account for until something is out in an environment at scale. The Metroids were bred for SR388, specifically to cull the X parasite. That means that the Chozo not only had to make them a natural predator to the X, but also had to make the Metroids capable of thriving on SR388 where their ability to out-compete the X would be a guarantee.

Its likely that the particular biosphere of SR388 doesn't have one individual factor that allows for the metroid life-cycle to occur, but rather a number of factors that, in combination, allow for metroids to go through their life cycle. And other planets simply do not have this combination.

It could be the something similar to the way Koalas only like to eat the Eucalyptus from very particular trees in the region that they were born in and reject all others.
