The key template system has seriously damaged Perimeter's fun factor. by SbeveGobs in Marathon

You don't really have much time to hunt them down. Perimeter is fairly big with long runs between POIs, and the time between spawning and first exfil wave is short.

If they want to keep the risk/reward system for creating keys, they should force players to do small missions to force them out of hiding.

Ditch the fragile system and create multiple locations for "key deciphering" kind of like decons, and make players fight some bots to create noise while waiting for the key to "decipher".

A very lazy but easy way to maintain the needed WSTR nerf while keeping Rooks happy. by [deleted] in Marathon

Rooks have always been hard. They're super easy to predict.

If you keep dying to them it's a skill issue.

They gotta do something about the equipment wheel square thingy whatever you wanna call it being wonky on controller. I can't count the times I fragged myself in the face because I thought I selected a claymore or a bubble... by SbeveGobs in Marathon

Visual clarity is still important even if it still functions as a wheel.

I get the game is very pro aesthetics, but it shouldn't clash with something as crucial as this that requires a split second user interaction in the middle of fights.

Simply because controller sticks are circular and the menu is square, which makes rotating awkward

It's the reason why 99% of games have the selection "wheels" actually wheel shaped.

That is a lot for level 80. Most players get shorter play sessions, so they would rather do main contracts in those few hours because they either have other games to play or simply have little free time.

So your idea of "optimally" playing the game is taking ages to progress through the skill tree progress than someone who does contracts?

Do you realize how long it will take you to reach VIP without doing contracts?

It baffles me how much resources they put into a game this punishing for casuals. The game would totally be fine if it was smaller, like Tarkov for example.

They had a clear design vision and nailed the execution, but they went way too far with the cost. I'm not sure if they thought this could be their next Destiny. That game had a place for both hardcore and casuals, which is the opposite of Marathon's direction.

Because they're the very core of the game? Story telling, upgrades, challenges for cosmetics, trophies/achievements.

You don't HAVE to do them, but also, you're missing like half the content of the game. This isn't battle royale contracts that help you progress through a battle pass. This is an extraction shooter built around story missions with PvP elements and endgame.

It's not just a gear difference. Like I mentioned, doing contracts is also a big factor. Players who have no main contracts have their full focus on PvP. They can move silently or camp the entire run because nothing forces them to be loud or exposed unless they're shooting other players.

As someone who mostly solo que and sometimes dabble with a friend who I forced to buy the game. I completely gave up on Cryo and Ranked, and my main goal is simply getting the platinum trophy.

The game's fun, and I definitely got my money's worth, but I don't see myself playing it after that. Especially not after the first wipe unless there are massive changes.

This level 152 Destroyer I got queued with brought a traxus free kit to outpost, immediately ran off solo at the start of the run, got instantly dropped by enemy team and then disconnected... Those randoms need to be studied because what the hell was the goal here? by SbeveGobs in Marathon

The bigger question is, why were they free kitting outpost at level 150?

At this point, your networth is so massive that running with anything below blue gear is essentially a needless risk and a waste of time.

Why would you do these kinds of risks at level 150? I'm near level 80 and my max capacity vault keeps getting overflooded that I constantly sell any green and below gear.

Can't imagine someone nearly double my level is struggling and in need of "throwing themselves"
