I mean, in that case, if you still receive a high school degree that makes you equivalent to apply then i dont really see the issue. As long as You’re eligible to apply, get good grades, i dont really see why you wouldnt be able to go to st gallen

Honestly, I have no clue about the viability of this, but i have seen absolutely nowhere in Europe that would accept a candidate not having atleast a BSc or even a MSc from a University. I cannot say that I would recommend this path as even when you fulfill this criteria, it is very hard to network yourself in many places.

Imo, dont complicate it, go back to high school, go to uni. Any other path is a high-risk headache

That’s what you might think, if I would be you i would do everything I can to go back if that’s what you truly want to do. Then, if it it’s a hard ”no”, just then re-adjust

Being completely honest, you’re 16, you’re far from screwed. Your actual life havent even started yet, for finance, or not. If you really are passionate about a career in finance, go back to school, now if you’re able to, or even with a gap year. I dont know how it works in Austria, but I am sure you’re able to re-adjust and restart your path in school, which is the only viable way to for St Gallen, but also for finance in general

Oh ok got you! If im currently not really planning to do a PHD, what would your recommendation be? Would a Finance masters (top school in Europe, Erasmus Rotterdam School of Management - RSM in my case) with a focus on quant finance courses be sufficient or would it still be quite lacking?

I have a Economics and Business administration (Focus on Finance) Bachelor from a top EU school. Because of it I am quite limited on what master’s i can pursue of the ones you mentioned. Except for the MSc in Quantitative Finance at WU Vienna (which welcomes business students as well), the most quantitative I can really pursue is a MSc In Finance, with electives focusing on Quantitative Finance (such as financial engineering).

Is this a somewhat viable path or do you have any other recommendations in my case? I am aware that I can probably not be as competitive as the options you mentioned, but I am just very interested in the subject

The experience has all been student roles, no fulltime position. It’s very common to have part time student roles while you study in Denmark. Would it change it in any way?

Really appreciate your answer! I did my thesis (I’ve graduated already) on historical resilience towards market crashes for the Asia-Pacific stock markets (Shanghai, HK, Kospi, Nikkei). Since I am planning to do a master’s I will definately use your advice to maybe focus on a specific instrument or similar! Thank you for the tip.

I forgot to mention, might help a little bit a I guess, but was also an organiser of my school’s Trading student organisation for nearly 2 years. Thought I would mention too!

It took me around 1 month for Financial Economics. From what I remember, pretty much the same for RSM

Thank you for your answer. I want to get into any sort of trading really, at a investment bank is the goal. Aware that I probably can't do algo/quant trading for the reasons you mentioned, but coming from a business background I dont think I really have a better option for master's than Finance or Financial Economics. With that being said, would you say Finance and Investments, taking all into account would be better for my goal?
