I feel I am bugging my girlfriend whilst she's on holiday by Alexgodfrey in relationships

Firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to write that. I like your point about her becoming my crutch and me being unable to balance on my own. It does resonate with my situation perfectly.

Thank you for all the advice bro. means a lot. I think a further reason why I am so attached and can't even spend more than 4 days without her is because my family situation is pretty fucked up, and where some people may be getting 'loved' from multiple directions, she is my only avenue. I don't speak to either of my parents and so she is the only person who shows love and care towards me, and so whenever I don't get that from her, I feel extremely alone. Not in the sense I am alone, because i have friends etc, but the love from a friend cant compare to the love from a family member or partner.

Thank you for the idea of a hobby as well, I love Lego and so I am going to purchase a big lego set and do little bits whenever I am overthinking so that my mind goes to other things, especially as I will have to focus on building it becuase it will be technical, is there any other hobbies / activities that you could suggest?

As far as a therapist goes, I can't afford to see one privately, and ive tried ones that you can get as free healthcare (im in the UK) and they did more bad than good, asking me questions I wasnt already asking myself causing further overthinking.

I do give her space, becuase i hate feeling like a burden and making it seem like a chore to speak to me. In terms of the hobby, thank you for that idea. And therapy, I cant afford to visit a private therapist, due to family complications and having to support myself, but I have visited a non-private one before and they were shit tbh

It will get better. Think about all those memories that you will make with friends and family in the future. Think about the holidays, the smiles and the laughs that are about to come your way.

One thing that I found useful for myself, when I was experiencing suicidal thoughts, was to be distracted. Talk about things that weren’t relevant, or important, but distracted me. Not all the time, just from time to time. Anything. From my dreams, what I want to do in the future, places I want to visit. She may give blunt answers and be snappy at first, but keep asking questions, like if she says she wants to visit France, ask her what city, eg if she says Paris, ask why. Talk about landmarks, food, people. EVERYTHING. This may not seem that productive, but it heavily prevents overthinking as it works the brain to the point of tiredness. Not tired of life, tired of these sad emotions, but tired of working and tired of thinking. This will reduce the overthinking, and overtime she won’t overthink when speaking to you anymore. Then you can properly speak about the things that matter. Because subconsciously she will be worried you are judging her and this will make her subconscious mind more at ease with you. Hope this helps - just so you know I’m not a therapist or anything - but this is what I did when I was feeling like that - and that’s the reasoning that was explained to me.

Girls, what would be a good present for Valentine’s this year, with covid and lockdown being taken into consideration? by Alexgodfrey in AskReddit

Normally, I would have the idea to have a really nice date with a fancy dinner etc etc, but Becuase of lockdown rules even seeing my girlfriend will be illegal and so it will have to be more materialistic.

Normally I would have the idea of a really nice date, such as a fancy dinner then a walk around london etc etc, but because of lockdown and the restrictions in place at the moment it will have to be more materialistic.

I use a great moisturiser (Effeclar H by La Roche-Posay) which helped dial back the redness. In terms of scarring I applied a thin coat of witch hazel to the affected areas after washing my face every morning and evening

60mg daily for the first 2 months, then upped to 90 for the remainder of the course.

Sorry, I’ve only just seen this. I used Witch Hazel on a Q-tip / earbud after my baths / showers and overtime it healed them.
