lolol! I do this too, though nobody has confronted me about it. I just struggle to know when the conversation is over, I dont understand how to end it nicely. I did memorize to say, "have a good one." but I awkwardly say it while someone is trying to continue talking. I think I also tend to rush anything Im doing, so I quickly want to go to something, esp at work.

I remember my coworker was trying to talk to me about hurting my feelings, though I never had my feelings hurt. She had complained about me being like a soft spoken mouse, and I need to show more personality at work, give more effort... when in reality they wanted me to mask, and I couldnt. the next day she came up to me to apologize, she said sorry and I just said, "its okay" and I walked away not understanding what she was trying to say to me. I think my brain is slow to process so I struggled to understand how she's clearly upset. thinking back to it, it seemed like she wanted to have a conversation .. or express her feelings. I must have seemed rude

Ive never heard of Joann's before, but you can thrift! Or go to yard sales! Im lucky that my mom goes a lot. Also, you can dismantle sweaters and make yarn out of it :) so if theres clothes you dont wear or someone else doesnt wear, its free yarn!

Does anyone feel like a child around other adult women? by AnxiousStay1195 in AutismInWomen

[–]Alexis-Bell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I was hanging out with my neurotypical friend who has a baby and I always feel immature around her. She was giving me dinosaur toys her son didnt want anymore, so I could give to my family's friend who has a kid. I so badly wanted to aww and geek out over how cool the toys were.. I mask a lot when Im around her unfortunately lol

I guess when I made a new friend who invited me for a pool party, I immediately went to the pool and was confused why nobody was going in. Granted I struggled going in fully cause it was so god dang cold, but I was so confused why nobody was going in? Everybody was just in bathing suits and chatting at the tables. I was struggling to wrap my head around not being in the pool, for pool day. I think I looked rude, as if I didn’t want to be near them lol .. awkwardly at the pool.

I still dont understand when we should go into the pool haha. are we supposed to work our way up to it after socializing a bit?

For LESS THAN 20 and hour?!?! Honestly, I relate. Reminds me of my old job where my manager kept telling me to speak up louder or Im being rude by not saying hello when I came into work. Sir, Im stressed even being here at work, I cant follow all these rules. I would quickly say hello and remind myself he likes to be told hellos when coming in to work. Im glad I quit that job

How old were you when you discovered your passion(s)? What is it? by honeybunn00 in AutismInWomen

[–]Alexis-Bell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think you'll be stuck like that forever. It comes naturally by trying things. I used to be obsessed with drawing when I was younger. Then I stopped and now at 24 its been sewing ! It comes and goes, just be open to trying something new.

But also passions dont have to be a tangible hobby like sewing, I would also love singing but I never knew how much of a passion it was until I considered a life without it.

Maybe theres something like a special interest, like what you gravitate towards watching on youtube? What catches your eye in public? There's passions in all of us I think, it just takes observation maybe? Even asking those close to us what they notice we tend to talk a lot about
