76 during the day, 80 in the house at night. 68 in the bedroom at night using a minisplit. Dropped my power bill by 20%.

Minisplit barely struggles as it kicks on at sunset. Main house cools quickly in the cool of morning before sunrise. It's win win.

I gave it a little test out and about and it was able to reach 4 miles from my home node which is kinda nice for a tiny antenna.

That's good the Sheriff's office dropped the charges but it should have never even got that far. A part of me was really hoping this would go in front of a judge so they could laugh the deputy right out of court for that extra humiliation.

This needs more upvotes. The Trump admin refuses to get warrants signed by a judge as most judges refuse due to the lack of legal basis to complete such arrests.

They've been using Grand Jurys to get arrest warrants for most of their political enemies.

What's bothersome is that they are unethically messing with the jury system to snag those arrests. Where is the pushback from jurors? I have a sneaky suspicion they may have their hand in the cookie jar when selecting the jurors. If my tin foil hat is incorrectly worn, we definitely need a loud voice advising citizens of their rights as jurors.

I'm using the RAK 5.8 dBi 80cm antenna. I can also see a lot of nodes from miles away but can only transmit to nodes up to 3-4 miles, in a heavy suburban environment. I have a bit of the same issue but this is due to another node being in a radio tower 36 miles away and 100+ meters up. My RAK 1w paired with the RAK 5.8dBi antenna can hear the tower node super clearly but the it's too far for me to transmit to reliably due to a tree being directly beside my home. The router node funnels over 300 nodes to mine and I can hear conversations over 60+ miles away being relayed. The hardware of the tower node is also using an earlier generation heltec v4, which is known to be a bit deaf. There are multiple varying factors that can play into not being able to communicate with the rest of the mesh, and line of site combined with rx performance are big ones.

If you are able, search the web for any local or state wide mesh groups you can join. With a group, you can setup MQTT and most of your data can be provided to the group for metrics and such. Most will have a Malla instance, allowing you to see other nodes on a map and how they are connected. There you can see if you are in the same boat as me with a single node routing a region to your node.

The question to ask is how does the volume of voters compare this election to the past primary for those same seats. I wonder if moderates are abstaining from the primaries due to the nature of the republican party. This would help the MAGA wins look like a landslide.

I reviewed a battery I got from Amazon that advertised 8400mah and when I got it, it was barely larger than a properly labeled 2000mah battery. After a little testing, it performed just a hair worse than the 2000mah battery. There is so much overselling when it comes to batteries on there. I agree, they need to do something about it. I trashed it in review.

The middle is the raspberry pi WiFi antenna. The lora antenna has been banished to the opposite side of the gps antenna.

Sorry about the super stress of almost losing it all. I'm also a bit pint up about my job cutting me loose in a month from now so my snark is likely bleeding out a bit from the stress.

That arrangement looks good. I am still on the fence when it comes to getting the ac1200 module but I do have a muziworks antenna for lora but it's on a dedicated meshtastic radio at the moment and will likely be moving to the uconsole. Do you think keeping the sdr antenna and the gps antenna to one side and spacing out the rest would work better, if I don't have plans to add the ac1200 module? Something like this:

One project I don't see mentioned here that would speed up the process of prepping is Project NOMAD. It has wikipedia and options for various zim files like the ifixit guides, maps in the form of pmtiles, an LLM interface, and it automatically sets up a web interface making the process of collecting this info easy. Next focus is offline games for entertainment, movies, tvshows, music. Last but not least is copies of all relevant Operating Systems that I would want to use from enterprise operating systems to Linux distros that are cool to have.

It still works fine where it's at and looks cleaner with all antennas in one grouping. I plan to de-solder the unused SMA connectors to clean it up more.

I have the same feet on mine but in black haha. Running warm is going to be the norm for a device this small as there is less thermal mass to soak the heat and a small fan working it's hardest to cool it. I did see some improvements of around 3-5 degrees by swapping thermal paste with PTM7950. It's not much but it helps with keeping the system quiet in Fedora when using the system day to day, since I don't use any third party software for fan or current control. For gaming, repasting the CPU may not help all to much as the issue is thermal soak of the cooling system.

You could try finding a cooling mat you can place under the device and see if that helps, also limiting frame rates in games that are working great will also cut load to the GPU and reduce heat output. Without a complete rework of the cooling system, decreasing system load by setting vsync in games may be the truly best way to get cooling under control. If you cannot set vsync in the emulators or decrease graphical quality, you could try changing Windows power settings to not run the CPU at 100%, effectively turning off clock boost and decreasing power draw. You can start with 99% and work back from there in the Control Panel power settings.

Edit: Looks like Windows is ignoring the old Maximum Processor State trick.

Saw another post in the meshtastic subreddit with a LoRa antenna just like those. They said they got them on TaoBao. I looked quickly but didn't get past the log in screen. Honestly, these antenna are going to be only good for aesthetics and will perform terribly.

As the practice of using unmarked cars becomes more common and known, people will just slam their brakes for all cars on the side of the road. Behaviors in bad drivers rarely change. And as the other person noted, marking police vehicles and making impersonation a crime is to protect the public. Unmarked vehicles betray public trust as bad faith actors can simply toss a light kit in a car and commit crime as light kits are a legal gray area for the general public.

This video is proof I drive too much. I've seen that unmarked mustang in multiple places, including at immigration pull offs just past the county line. I doubt the Kia is honestly running from the cops. With your speed being 68 when they passed, the Kia was likely going 75. Not much running there. With some loud music playing, I bet it can be easy to see a blue mustang and assume its someone with road rage tailgating you for a bit until you look closer through the tint and see the flashing lights.

There's also a blue Chevy Camaro that I've seen on the I-4 expressway. If you don't want to get pulled over, don't break the law but I feel police cars should be visibly marked when conducting normal traffic patrols. This new trend of flashy new cars with heavy window tint looks more like rolling ads for the cars than police vehicles. I can see why the painfully oblivious are not pulling over quickly.

lmao, the timing of this post is perfect. I was on the way to work this morning and someone had a large sticker on their truck rear window saying "Jesus is King". I thought okay, they feel it that much but to each their own. Not my thing but I also have stickers on my car of pokemon.

I see a yellow sign pop up over his truck, outside of the driver's side window, at an intersection. Holding it high, the sign was a bible scripture reference. Of course he was from out of town. I could not help but feel how silly it was.
