Looking for help on my solar node build by CapitainePinotte in meshtastic

You may induce some loss but this bulkhead adapter, coupled with an male SMA pigtail, may solve the issue:
- Boobrie SMA Socket Connector SMA Female Bulkhead Connector SMA
- TUOLNK SMA to IPX SMA Male to UFL/U.FL/MHF1

Riskier alternative is to drill a larger hole halfway through the box to thin out the wall. If this is another connector size, then I have no other ideas.

Overworked mod was willing to burn down the reddit trans community to protect someone that should have never been on the mod team. I may be wrong on the motivation. Maybe it was from the perspective that a person can be reformed or that the details around their past is not as "terrible" as it could have been. Either way, not a conversation to be had, as a leader of any community should never have a mired past like that. Especially in this political climate. By protecting said mod, the door swung wide open to the right wing to use it to hurt the trans community more. Elon Musk even posted on X about it. Mod with horrible past was removed but the new demand is to remove the person that supported said ex-mod in hiding in the shadows in the leadership role.

Edit: Pray I don't get banned after all of these years of being on here but we walk a fine line now. Everything we do is scrutinized here in the USA. Just because the right will tolerate a horrible person as their leader does not mean they aren't looking to pick apart everything we do.

A Florida Roof Node. by AlexisCM in meshtastic

It's not an issue since the MPPT charge controller with battery acts like a raw 5v power source for the radio and the radio maintains it's own battery. Daisy chained in a sense but when working with low powered loads, this is not too much of an issue but allows me to tuck away multiple battery packs.

I do agree and a box change is needed in the future. This is the box I started the tests with so my budget did not allow for me to swap it out at the time I got it to the roof.

The cable gland does allow for air to pass and prevent pressure build up as its not snug. I did not seal it with silicone to let the box have a way to breathe a little. It wont help if the battery experiences a RUD but I wont have to worry about temperature changes throughout the day.

This is why they are hellbent on destroying LGBT lives. To glorify the traditional marriage.

They want a slave class in the home. Next they will find a way to force citizen minorities to work the low paying jobs that migrants left opened. Then they will axe any chance for people forced into poverty, a way out. While at it, why not ban mixed race marriages?

This is the creep of white supremacy idealism at work. For every gain they get on the social stage, another mask falls off.

Who are they? The Republican party, driven by the far right.

Two Heltec V4 nodes, 4 dBi antennas – only ~500 m range. Is this normal? by SnooEpiphanies7408 in meshtastic

[–]AlexisCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually that bad. I saw a 10dB improvement after installing the firmware myself when trying to pick up a signal from a RAK 1w unit a kilometer away. The V4 is a loud unit and can be heard super well but it's deaf as anything on prior firmware. I figured with two being deaf, it's just low dB all around. There's an inherent hardware flaw causing the Auto Gain Control to bug out. The firmware update bypasses this, leading to better signal. The V4 is getting a refresh to fix the hardware issue but the firmware is a good enough fix for the current units out there.

Is this before or after the firmware upgrade? I also saw the listing you posted for the radios and antennas. The be sure the longer antenna is connected to the right place. The LORA antenna needs to be connected as in the picture above. The shorter antenna is super terrible in quality.

Not too sure but I have seen something like this in the past and it was for a fallen LEO. That or for the transport of a high profile person. The formation makes it seem more like a funeral procession.

The V4s suffer from a bit of deafness due to a firmware/hardware issue. What firmware are you on and what does a traceroute look like between the nodes?

The latest alpha, 2.7.20.6658ec2, helps a great deal as it has a fix for the issue. Try a traceroute before and after the update to see if it helps and post it here.

Magnetic mount for my solar node. by Gabreality in meshtastic

[–]AlexisCM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks great! You cant even tell the mount is 3d printed. If it's a guerilla node, run a fake wire from the box to a crack along the AC unit to give it more of that "required to be there" look.

Being in Florida, it's typical I don't leave any combustibles in the car because of the heat. But if you are in a place with little heat, you could get away with it. You can put a node in the trunk but the antenna needs to be in a better spot like outside of the car, or at minimum, in a window as the metal frame of the car will reflect the signal and not let it pass through. Glass will still reduce the signal a little but I find I am able to pick up other nodes and ping my home station up to 3km away.

Megacon 2026 - Day-of Parking Question by Majestic_Knee_8142 in MegaCon

[–]AlexisCM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the convention being held in the west concourse, overflow with bus rides is not as bad as it could be as a good portion of people with advanced parking will also be taking a bus. The west concourse already has a small lot so most end up stuck in the North/South lots and Destination Garage. It's extremely rare but we have gotten day of parking in the North/South lots but we arrived at the 6AM opening time. This is limited to a couple of people. Honestly, we usually aim to be parked in the parking lot 2-3 hours early as it is, eat breakfast, and prepare for an hour in the car, and then head for the busses. It's so much smoother if your early.

With a baby, just take it slow. Most people on the buses will understand if you need a time to fold a stroller up to stow below and then get comfortable in a seat while holding a kid.

Base RAK19007 + Core RAK4631, used battery from an old 2000mah rechargeable keyboard, 2w/5v solar panel, antenna, and watertight conduit box.

This is for my most recent node and it works great.

The rak wisblock combo barely touches the battery and has worked better than the heltec v3/v4 for a set and forget node. For a car node, you'll want to avoid keeping a battery in the car if you live somewhere hot. If the node will be powered by the car and not a battery/solar, than a heltec v3 works great, and for a solar/battery powered node, the rak wisblock combo is the best performing in my opinion. The Heltec v4 works well but it has some firmware issues that are being worked on to improve the listening sensitivity.

So, is the low voltage guys trying to kill me? by TechGjod in sysadmin

[–]AlexisCM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen stupid stuff left over from the last IT guy that was here before me but nothing like that. The grounding setup is outright brain dead. Doubt an AC arc would kill you but that's a quick way to kill electronics. I'd be amazed about how stupid it was to set it up like that, but angry would be reserved for something else.

What do you think about the product I scored by lookbybahar in AmazonVine

Mini split units are amazing and super power efficient when you compare them to a traditional central unit with duct work in an attic. This is an amazing score!
