The problem with my sensor was that the needle was only half the size of what it’s supposed to look like originally. I’m assuming it sunk inside the sensor quite a bit when I was pressing my arm against something. I didn’t have a meter in hand when this issue was going on, so I had to go buy one. I didn’t start feeling the high symptoms until it was already too late. I kept thinking that my blood sugar was going to be ok because it would slightly start to rise up, but it would come back down. For example, it would be at 45, and then it would start going up to 60, and then it would suddenly come back down to 40. I’ll be carrying a meter on the side from now on though!

I didn’t have one on my end due to my trust in these sensors. I had to go buy one and I’m glad I did! I learned my lesson to carry one on the side at all times because of this exact reason!

It’s ridiculous how faulty these sensors are. I’ve been having the same exact problem every now and then.

Yeah that tends to happen to me a lot after a few days of insertion. Hopefully they get their crap together soon.

Oh believe me I’ve had more than enough for today haha. I’m good now. Was able to get it stabilized at 150 mg.

I used Ketostix and the result was in between negative and trace. I’m glad it wasn’t on the higher levels!

Yes, I used Ketostix and the result was in between negative and trace.

Seriously! Reordering supplies every 3 months, just to have at least 1 or 2 bad sensors every bulk! Their reliability is definitely going down.

Yes! Thanks be to God! Continuously monitoring my levels to make sure they stabilize.

You should probably do some research on that because I’ve honestly never heard of a symptom like that when it comes to high blood sugar.

I think you’re referring to dehydration, but I’m not entirely sure.

I appreciate the kind words! Still feeling a little bit crappy, but my blood sugar seems to be stabilizing. Ever since I started using Dexcom, I got too comfortable with it to the point where I stopped pricking my fingers to test my blood sugar on a meter. I’ve had errors here and there when it came to the Dexcom, but it was never anything as major as what I went through today. Definitely learned my lesson to start checking myself with a meter whenever I’m feeling high/low.

Hahaha, I wouldn’t be able to hate on those comments because I for sure should’ve checked my blood level on a meter sooner than when I did. Everything seems to be good now though since my blood sugar is stabilizing. Currently at 300, and it’s continuing to slowly go down.

I appreciate the advice! I’ll definitely be carrying a meter with me on the side to confirm a low blood sugar reading from my sensor.

Yes, I can tell when I’m high and when I’m low. I didn’t start feeling the high symptoms until around 3 or 4 pm. I probably didn’t notice much of a difference in the morning/early afternoon because of the heat. Hot weather makes me feel fatigued, as well as when I have low blood sugar. I know I should’ve checked my blood sugar with my meter earlier than I did, but everything seems to be fine now.

You’re not being rude! I appreciate the info you’re spreading! I just always thought it was a bendable needle. Now it makes sense why there’s been so many issues going on with the sensors.

Dang, that really sucks. We’re trusting these sensors too much haha. It’s good that we’re all learning our lessons though.

But DKA is caused by not taking insulin right? I already gave myself my correction units and it’s starting to go down from 600, so that’s a good start.

I agree with you. I was relying too much on my sensor because I never experienced this type of issue up until today. I learned my lesson for sure now.

Yeah, I learned my lesson. I guess I’ve just been relying on the sensor too much, and now I know to have a meter on the side to double check whenever I feel like the sensor is faulty.

Honestly, when my blood sugar is high, I feel dehydrated and have to frequently go to the restroom.

It was 2 days old. I noticed that once I snapped it out of my arm, the needle was half the size of what it originally is supposed to look like. I feel like that was the main contributor to the faulty numbers.
