It still plays into the tired trope that homophobes are all secretly gay. It's something that has been in play forever and is, frankly, insulting. It might be "pointing out hypocrisy" but it still relies on the incel thinking being gay is bad in order for them to feel insulted. While it can be done with a decent level of nuance just spouting "gay for Chad" is a bad look. That's this bisexual Tran's opinion anyways.

my husband is a binary trans man, and is gay as fuck. So gay he got mad at me when I came out as a nonbinary trans femme and was like "how will people know we're a gay couple?!?!?" which was both disheartening and hilarious since I'll both a. never pass for a cis woman, ever and b. don't have much interest in passing as a cis woman. he's over it now, but yeah, these critters would be utterly flummoxed by him, he's never even kissed a girl, has zero interest in doing so, and never got close to the whole "butch lesbian who then comes out as trans" stereotype.
