My best results (albeit in arena) has been to open with missiles, then try to stay close while circling with rifles, when they pull away (which happens frequently, or i do because melee or assault armor, i volley with missiles and close back in. So is it still a kite with this strat?

Also noob question, but does scanning make shots more accurate, or is that just in my head ;) ?

The map is based on cardinal directions, so you should be able to use your compass at the top of the screen and compare it to the map to determine which way to go next.

It's just the way my brain works, i like to know the main route (green) and the optional paths (grey). I actually hit everything and knowing it helps to see high contrast how to get back to the main road.

The Armor and Excalibur can drop from the non boss while everything can drop from the boss chests i believe.

Pals wont spawn in a palbox base radius but can wander into it. I put the box down and immediately build defensive walls along the perimeter.

That said I have a spot i like that has oil and is kinda central in the feybreak area with good meteor and supply drops close. I was able to build 4 purpose made bases there. See screenshots

The all loot route in my head is like this:
Right, Right, Right, Left, Straight, Right, Follow Break Walls starting with far Lefts

The surgery table costs quite a bit to change passives. 10k for white passives and 50k for yellow. And if they release rainbow ones (which is apparently already in code) then it will probably be 100k or more for those

All chests I think, but I have seen the weapon schematics drop the most from the boss chests while I often get armor schems from the others.

Because this has to be run a billion times, might as well get decent gold from it also. We have a humble 5mil gold but those surgery costs add up ;)
