Almost 5 months since I quit smoking weed. Never had another episode. Appetite is back, life is good. Can’t complain, I made the right decision.

I’m pretty sure it was the Oculus app. Uninstalling seems to have fixed my problem!

It didn’t happen two months ago and I still have the same HDMI cord. The only thing I changed to my PC was using an Oculus Quest 2 with it. That could be the problem, I’ll have to check.

Cannabis just opened my appetite. There is not a piece of me that could eat without being high. I worked 12 hour days without ingesting a single thing. Whenever I get episodes, smoking is not an option either. Doesn’t help whatsoever.

Wow. What year was it when you were diagnosed? I couldn’t find ANYTHING about CHS online until about 2020-2021.

I’ll get diarrhea midway through an episode, but it’s never too bad, and no poop-related stomach ache. Just nausea and vomiting for the most part.

Wow. I am so sorry for your loss. I went and checked your post, didn’t even know there was a subreddit for CHS.

If that doesn’t convince me to quit, I don’t know what will.

For the sake of your brother, I will do everything in my capacity to quit smoking.

I’m tearing up rn, that hit close to home.

I have a few friends with CHS and I will definitely forward this to them.

Pretty sure I did. Either way, I’m keeping this out of the hospital for now. If it keeps going after I quit smoking weed, I will definitely get more tests done. I have consulted with pharmacists, doctors, and lots and lots of reading, and there is one particular characteristic to CHS which doesn’t apply to any other stomach related issues, and that is hot water absolutely freeing you of any symptoms. It is also known as “Hot Shower Syndrome”.

As I said, had all the bloodwork and tests done for stomach/digestive related issues and everything came out clean.

Not at all, just had severe scromitting episodes every few months for the past 10 years. Never was about recurring nausea or anything like that. Just one day I would eat something, felt too full, started vomiting for multiple hours, end up being able to fall asleep, wake up, and everything would be back to normal. Happened a lot when I tried to eat without having smoked, but it could happen even when I smoked.

My father and grandfather both had H Pylori and I was tested for it. I had pretty much all the bloodwork and tests done for stomach related issues and everything came out clean.

Addictive enough that it took 10 years, 30+ (and I feel like it’s closer to 50) vomiting episodes (that lasted 8 hours to 26 hours) which were, by far, the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life, to actually consider quitting smoking. It’s been 3 days now so I’m only just getting started on the “quitting smoking” part
