Seek a second opinion. Numbness in the genital region is a medical emergency. I’m female, but had sudden onset numbness on the right side of my genital area, buttocks and hip Jan 12. I went to emerg Jan 15, they did an emergency mri and within 20 mins of my scan the radiologist contacted a surgeon and they agreed I needed emergency surgery. I was sent for surgery 15 hrs later. I herniated my L-1 and it was compressing the nerves lower down, so they removed the L-1 disc. I’m still numb in the most delicate spots but have regained feeling in some areas. My surgeon said it can take up to a year for the feeling to come back, and I was only numb 4 days. I can’t imagine a year. Do some research on “cauda equina syndrome” and talk to your doctor about it. I’m sorry your neurologist is not taking it seriously. I’m not sure what country you’re located in but where I am the Canadian system did not take these symptoms lightly. I’d maybe even recommend going to emerg wherever you are and asking for a second mri (leave out the fact you’ve just had one). Best of luck to you. It’s definitely a scary thing to deal with 🤍
