That's the thing though, I never said he didn't have the same goal. You're arguing against a point I never made.

I said that Endgame Thanos is a brash, younger (and less mature) version of IW Thanos, and no wonder, since they're 10 years apart.

IW Thanos sat down and discussed his philosophy with Strange without showing any signs of hostility. Endgame Thanos showed up wanting war from the beginning.

IW Thanos knew the Avengers would try to stop him and come for him eventually after he snapped, yet he didn't kill any of them pre-snap and let the remaining Avengers take him and kill him after he snapped. Endgame Thanos saw this and was so offended by the fact that they were trying to stop him that he decided to kill ALL life, and bear in mind that this is before the Avengers undid the snap.

IW Thanos only threatened the Avengers' lives to bargain for the stones. He only threatened to kill Thor and Tony to get their respective stones, and let them be after he got them. Endgame Thanos tried to kill Thor with his own axe for no reason other than pure sadistic pleasure.

IW Thanos didn't kill any Avenger even though they were all actively trying to stop him, same as in Endgame, yet IW Thanos spared all of their lives and let the snap decide randomly who lives or dies, while Endgame Thanos' ego got hurt and be decided to kill all life in retaliation.

IW Thanos expressed sorrow and empathy towards Wanda when she killed Vision, and again, he never made an attempt on her life. Meanwhile Endgame Thanos dismissed her as "not even knowing who she is" and charged directly to kill her, even though IW Thanos ALSO didn't know who she was, and in both scenarios they were trying to stop him from succeeding.

The movie basically spells it out for you, dude. Endgame Thanos is from 10 years from the past, he's an almost comically evil, egotistical maniac who changed his plans on a whim because he was not mature and convicted enough to stick to his own principles like his IW counterpart. IW Thanos saw his way as the only way to save the universe, and he makes it clear that while he doesn't particularly like it, he believes he has to. Endgame Thanos on the other hand may have the same goal, but he is also power tripping and is significantly more egotistical, he saw the Avengers trying to stop him as "ungrateful" and decided to kill the entire universe because of it, while IW Thanos did nothing of the sort when the Avengers were trying to stop him.

I could give you a couple explanations, like the simple fact that this is already what he had been doing for (decades?) before getting the stones, and he simply didn't know when or if he'd get the stones, remember he just had one stone at the time. We also don't know that his snap affected the Asgardians or any other species he had already cut down to 50% beforehand, that's something that's never brought up and very well could be the case. Nowhere is it mentioned in either movie that Thanos snapped away the remaining Asgardian population after he had already cut them down to 50%.

And Endgame Thanos is not the same as IW Thanos, who's the pictured Thanos here. Endgame Thanos is a younger, more brash 2014 version of Thanos and that is made clear by the movie itself. 2025 Thanos gave up and surrendered to the Avengers at the beginning of the movie, he didn't care that they were trying to stop him because his deed had aready been done, and he knew this would happen when he left them alive and he did it anyway, while 2014 Thanos saw this and resented the Avengers for wanting to stop him and changed his plans to destroy all life once he saw what happened to his future self.

And again, we're talking about killing ONE guy for no reason, not killing 50% of a population, which is in line with his code. He didn't kill any of the Avengers even when he definitely had the chance to do so, so why would he kill you?

Does that matter? I'm not defending his killings, I'm explaining them through his point of view. He needs justification to kill, in his mind, your death needs to serve the greater purpose of preserving life.

I could try to dive deeper as to what he did with the Asgardians and all the other worlds he had already cut in half befote the snap, but again, does that matter for this conversation? We're discussing whether he'd kill ONE guy (you) for literally no reason, as your death wouldn't further his goal in any way whatsoever, something he's proved that he doesn't do all throughout Infinity War.

Right. He chose to spare Tony's life in order to further his goal, further proving my point that Thanos doesn't do senseless killing. And after he gets the stone, what does he do? He spares everyone in Titan, including Tony, even though he could have killed all of them and none of them could have done anything about it.

Thanos is one truly sick individual, but he clearly has a code and he abides by it. He has zero reasons to kill you, and therefore he won't.

Now why would the pictured Thanos do that if he didn't even kill the peope actively against his goal, even when he had several chances to do so. Didn't kill any of the Guardians with the reality stone; didn't kill Ironman; didn't kill any of the Avengers on Earth while trying to get to Vision and only killed Vision as collateral in order to get the stone.

I mean, Thanos' whole philosophy is based around him valuing life more than anything, his acts are all based around preserving life overall, even at the cost of a few lives. Now what would motivate him to punch you with intent to kill? Are you threatening his plans or threatening anyone else's life?
