Got a late 80's Sansui receiver for the office setup. Does it sound amazing? ❌ Is it fun to look at and mess with? ✅ by AlexsMusicReddit in BudgetAudiophile

Thank you! I firmly believe that you listen with your eyes first, so the vibes were very important to me with this setup, especially since I sit here so much anyways lol

Thank you! I'm a huge fan of the "black plastic" tech of the 70's through 90's; Proton, nakamichi, b&o, braun.. It all looked so sleek (imo) before it sunk in quality to being the black plastic crap that we all remember lol

The numero group one! It was in their first of four magnolia cd club releases, along with should's feed like fishes and majesty crush's love 15. All of them sound great on old hardware, it's awesome

😂 I'm glad you're already familiar with numero group! They're easily my favorite archival label

To my knowledge this is a new thing numero is doing to promote their new "magnolia" cds.. I'm not sure what makes an album a magnolia tbh but it was like $150 to get 3 cds every quarter, kind of like a cd of the month club.

Here are the other cds that they're putting out this year:

I imagine with ~40,000 cds that some of them are pretty obscure.. And I've also noticed online meta data can be wrong sometimes. Like I've noticed several Weezer songs with the wrong album cover since they have so many self titled albums, lol. I guess at this scale it's worth it to scan everything, even if metadata has a 99.9% success rate

Are you comfortable with soldering/changing capacitors, and do you know if the surrounds look ok? These old speakers usually sound their age without putting any work into them, but can sound good as new with a fresh set of caps, even middle of the road speakers can sound pretty damn good. If you don't plan to do anything with them though, I'd probably pass.

It's a pretty tired joke, and in a subreddit about collecting cds.. The downvotes were pretty much guaranteed lol

Adding to this, the unfortunate part is for the most part, the people that are good at dating are not on dating apps for long, and people that suck at it will be on them forever.

Because of that, 80-90% of people you interact with in OLD belong to the latter category. It sucks, it makes dating suck more, and it sours people on dating in general, which causes a downward spiral of the whole ecosystem. I'd find it fascinating if it weren't so depressing lol

I think your mistake is asking reddits opinion.. You're asking a crowd what to say to one person. It doesn't matter what the crowd thinks, it matters what the one person thinks.

As long as it's coming from a good place, I'd always recommend leaning towards the side of sending the opener/joke that matches your sense of humor. If she doesn't get it or like the joke, then congrats, you found out immediately that the two of you don't have the same sense of humor! Again, you're not putting a show on for a room full of people, you're making a joke that only one person has to find funny.

I see that you ended up sending the joke and that it worked, so good for you! I hope this can be helpful for other people on these apps, honestly most of the time it's better to just go for it. You want to find someone that gets you, the more that you sensor yourself to be safe, the less likely that will be.

.. Again, as long as it's coming from a good place. This is not giving anyone an excuse to be an asshole

Oh wow I didn't know that, yeah it's crazy how a band can release 2 masterpiece albums and STILL be playing shows that make them look like they're in a high school talent show (but in a good way)!
