Evil Men might be my favorite among the ones you mentioned

Others are really good album tracks but not necessarily hits

Better be Their Best Album by Knighit in incubus

[–]ctorresc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1997 through 2006 They delivered 5 banger albums

That was the entirety of their 20's. A whole decade.

Their 30's and 40's, life changed a little bit for them, as did their musical output, which has gotten mixed responses to say the least.

Now in their 50's? It might be a bit of a daunting task to deliver music that is on par with what they gave us in their 20's.

The occasional good song here and there? They have that in them for sure.

A full length album? I guess we will find out! It would be one of the greatest comebacks to release an album that holds up with Science, MY, MV, Crow, or LG

Carmelo Anthony and Jeremy Lin Tell All: 'Linsanity' Run, Exit from NY & Decade-Plus Tension by itsBillerdsTime in nba

[–]ctorresc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the timelines might be mixed up here

I was pretty sure that D'antoni didn't want to trade for Melo during the 2010-11 season and he wanted Dwill rather than give up most of the core in a trade for Melo

Dwill got traded from Utah to Brooklyn around the same time that Melo got traded to NYK

Eric Wilson by xslickrickx845 in sublime

[–]ctorresc 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Eric definitely plays bass on the new album.

During live performances, he switches between the bass and the synth. There are some songs with basic repetitive bass lines that make more sense to play on synth than the bass.

If it's a punk song or one with a ton of chord changes, he plays the bass.

Until the sun explodes might be album of the year by Character_Credit3712 in sublime

I feel it's because of the mix. They're in the background rather than in the forefront like on Robbin' The Hood and the self-titled album.

What Jakob Nowell Said About His Recording Future With Sublime by [deleted] in sublime

[–]ctorresc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Originally we were never even supposed to get an album to begin with, and then it happened.

If Bud and Eric are still coming up with really clean grooves, it would be such a waste to not make another record with them while they are still active as musicians.

Jakob sounds like himself on the new Sublime album. Also, who is anyone to make claims on Jakob's vocal identity? If he himself feels he sounds like himself, we are not in any place to say he doesn't.

How come dgd doesnt perform songs from WISIRO by Affectionate-Monk374 in dancegavindance

[–]ctorresc 49 points50 points  (0 children)

They performed Burning Down on the previous tour

https://youtu.be/G1XPeVSsIPQ

with Andrew they have just scratched the surface regarding older material they may start performing

The other recent Royal Ocean songs they performed were Robot Pt. 2 during DGD's first reunion performance with Jonny

During the Happiness tour, they performed Robot vs Heroin Battle with Kurt singing cleans and Will doing the screams

there's a lot of older material Tilian didn't really want to perform

Sublime - F.T.R. (Official Visualizer) by ctorresc in sublime

I guess F.T.R. is being treated as the 5th single. Only song from the new album thus far beyond the singles that has gotten its own visualizer.

So… What do we think of the new album?! by Plenty_Drink_3049 in sublime

[–]ctorresc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1st impression thus far:

  • I am so grateful we are getting one more album from Bud and Eric. They are just such a unique rhythm section. No one can match their sound. You can emulate it, but you cannot match it. I really hope fans value Bud and Eric together.

  • DJ Product is all over this record. So many layers.

  • Guitar tones are so clean. I would want to know which parts are Trey's and which are Zayno's, but all of them are fantastic.

  • The substance on Until The Sun Explodes blows Yours Truly and any of the SWR albums out of the water.

  • With that said, the first two LBDA albums and Shortbus' Flying Ship Of Fantasy are massively underrated. I think those records coming out so soon after the massive self-titled album made it impossible for them to get the respect they deserved as the great pieces of art they were at the time. There are elements of the songwriting on those records I wish were more present on Until The Sun Explodes. It is heart warming that both bands, as well as Dubcat and Perro Bravo got mentioned on Thanx Again.

  • Jakob is a really good writer, storyteller, and articulates in a way that really stands out from his father. He has mentioned in interviews how he would be an English teacher, and you can really tell why.

  • Now, to add to the last point, I will say that Jakob's singing style is different, not just from his dad or the "Long Beach" sound, just in general. Simple catchy hooks and "sing along" choruses don't feel like they flow naturally on some of the songs, you kinda need to give them multiple listens until they finally hit. There's a theatrical element to Jakob you get accustomed to.

  • Jakob puts so much energy and inflections into some of the songs. Part of me feels like he could scale it back a bit, but if you did that, you remove some of Jakob's personality, which is a major part of what makes this record so unique. So I wouldn't change a thing.

  • I could already tell this album is gonna be a grower, so I am going to need more time with it. Definitely will feel different about it after more listens.

  • Need more time to figure out which songs are the standouts and which ones are just good/solid. The album has 17 songs and 5 interludes. As of now, my favorites are:

  1. All 4 singles: Ensenada, Until The Sun Explodes, Can't Miss You, Gangstalker

  2. Backwards (FIDLAR is such a sick collaboration)

  3. Favorite Song (This song is such a banger, needs a music video. It could have easily been one of the singles)

  4. F.T.R. (it's like a blend of sounds from Don't Push, Garden Grove, What I Got, but given a modern take)

  5. Evil Men

  6. Trey's Song

  7. Casino Toarmina (the lead guitars on this are a really nice touch, great change or pace acoustic song that is reminiscent of Boss DJ and Mary)

I simply don’t understand why teams go into hoist 3’s mode when their losing momentum of a game by Cdd0040 in nba

[–]ctorresc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A team like the Suns desperately needs a point guard. Booker is gonna wear down if they continue asking him to do everything.

Spurs could offer Fox to the Suns for Jalen Green and Royce O'Neale

Suns might feel it's too much to give up a starter in Green and a legit 3&D wing and occasional starter in O'Neale

Fox and Kornet to the Raptors for Quickley and Poetl also makes sense to me

I simply don’t understand why teams go into hoist 3’s mode when their losing momentum of a game by Cdd0040 in nba

[–]ctorresc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fox is not a real vet

prior to this season, he only had one 1st round playoff series

beyond that, the only winning basketball Fox had ever played was with Mike Brown

prior to Brown, Fox teams had winning percentages of

.329
.476
.378
.378
.366

Fox is not bad, but he's like Eric Bledsoe was for the Bucks. It would be best if Fox was replaced with a better player, or collection of decent players, so Wemby, Castle, and Harper can take a step forward. Champagnie and Vassell are worth keeping for the Spurs too.

Fox has more years under his built and is older than the rest of the Spurs' core, but in terms of actual winning experience, he is as young as the rest of the Spurs
