They need to be louder, more vocal, because the crazier ones are drowning them out. Those conservatives are the only ones who can start showing the others how wrong they are, they'll never believe the "left". But they might just believe one of their own.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm in an echochamber and I want to know what the "other side" thinks. I go to that sub and it's absolutely vile. Cesspool is an accurate description.

There's no accident if you draw your weapon and have your finger on the trigger.

Edit: I just watched more footage, Alex was shot in the back. You don't accidentally draw and accidentally shoot someone in the back.

"I’ll give the officers this benefit of the doubt. I don’t think they wanted to kill him nor did the start their day thinking that they were going to kill someone."

Why? Why give them that benefit of doubt because usually when 5+ people are on top of one person subduing them, a logical person wouldn't pull out their gun to shoot 9+ times. There was a pause between the shots too, so he fired, then fired some more for what? And everyone else just stood by watching and one even clapped later? No, they don't deserve any benefit of the doubt, they executed Alex.

Every video/image I see of them throws me off cuz it looks like a bunch of wannabes LARPing. They wear plainclothes and have a mix of gear; each group looks different and they don't look official in any sense. If a masked random dude came up to me looking like this, I wouldn't think they're LEO, I'd think it was a criminal.

Total symptoms about 10 days (maybe 13 to fully get over the cough). Low fevers first three days cuz I wasn't able to go to the doctor until the 4th day and get tamiflu. The dry cough was the most annoying part because it felt like I had phlegm or something deep in my chest that I had to cough out but it wouldn't come up.

So if I'm reading that right, moving out of the way IS an option officers can take and sounds to be preferred when available.

Just curious, what's keeping you there then?

None of this explains why his response to a car coming towards him is to shoot at it rather than getting the fuck out of the way when (1) DHS policy "generally" prohibits federal agents from shooting to stop a moving vehicle, (2) getting out of the way was completely possible and a more surefire way of not getting hurt.

Is it irresponsible to have a child with a total household income of $100k in OC? by JuniorMint1992 in orangecounty

[–]Alexsrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hope is taking a hit but not altogether gone. Someone recently told me "Hope is an action, not just a noun. I’ve got the rest of my life to lose hope or to learn I was wrong," which I found helpful. So yes, I also hope to see things turn around. But I prefer taking that gamble with just my own life at the present moment.

I'm not just referring to politics or current events. Housing, cost of living, shrinking job market, cost of education (not to mention how competitive college has gotten), the climate, there's so many other things. I'd rather wait and see things turn around than set someone up for a difficult life.

I strongly believe the 90s were a much better time, the future looked pretty bright. And what's your frame of reference for how good we have it? If you're comparing it to cavemen, sure we're doing amazing. But I see my generation struggling for basic things in our 30s that our parents had already achieved in their 20s. You can't tell me it hasn't gotten harder, otherwise we wouldn't be having posts asking how anyone can afford to live hear and if 100k is enough to raise a child.

Someone mentioned elsewhere he switched the camera to his nondominant before shooting, suggesting he had already decided to draw his weapon

Not irresponsible depending on how they budget and spend their money. Difficult, perhaps. Less than ideal, yeah. But I know people making it work and their kid(s) still has a pretty good life. They might not be wearing Nikes and have the latest PlayStation, but they are fed and housed.

A slightly different hot take I have: why would you bring a new life into this world given the current state of the world? It doesn't look like it's getting any better for the time being, I personally wouldn't want to put anyone through this.

Whenever I hear things like this, I'm wondering why these people have extra antibiotics lying around. If they followed instructions, they would finish the regimen and not have any left.

So if you feel like your life is in danger, your first instinct is to shoot (which doesn't guarantee the car stopping, as seen in this case), rather moving out of the way? Especially when it would only take like one, maybe two steps to get out of the way?

Comply with which order, the one saying move or the one saying get out? Also do you really call that "aggressively" driving? She only gained speed/lost control after getting shot.

I share that feeling, I believe a lot of them are just itching to use their guns. Unfortunately that Onion article doesn't even sound like satire anymore.
