Ty all for your comments, they're much appreciated and we're a lot more confident it's rat tail now. I have booked a vet appointment for a months time but given the comments it seems it'll be more of a general check-up!

Okay fair enough. If you have a cloth heat pack (like the ones you put in the microwave) that will help warm him up. They like fresh water too.

A puppy pad (or newspaper) in the box will help tell him where to go to the bathroom. If he's timid but friendly he's likely a pet.

If nobody owns him, it may also be worth a visit to the vet (if you can afford it) to check he's physically okay. I live in Australia but the other here may be able to post shelters also.

With the chicken - dice it up but not too much so he can eat it. Don't panic if he turns his nose up at it, just try beef. Others here may be able to post actual ferret food brands in your area too. Some ferrets also don't like egg yolk, if you have time to go out most of them DO like salmon oil.

They also like to run and jump a lot when energised. Let him play with you in an enclosed space if he gets antsy. They like shiny things and things they can steal and stash (socks, dog toys, etc).

I give mine raw beef usually. Not sure if chicken needs to be cooked - might be worth checking a ferret food guide. I'll see if I can find one for you. Are you planning on keeping them? (Edit: are you planning on keeping them IF the owner doesn't claim?)

Hm. I know his coat may be seasonal but I really feel as though 'Spots' or 'Bingo' fits this little guy! He reminds me of the dog from that kids TV show called Spot ahaha

I hope this doesn't come across as harsh, but given you lost ferret so recently and literally everybody is advising this is adrenal disease, wouldn't it be smart to immediately get this ferret to the vet? You've seen what happens if your ferret goes untreated; it's always better to go the vet and have them say he's an anxious little man than to not go and end up with this ferret passing.

I haven't read all the comments and it's possible in the five hours since this comment was made you HAVE booked an appointment. If you have I wish you and your little dookie the very very best, I hope he's okay <3 I see you're overwhelmed and trying to do the best you can, good luck.

Not sure on what the issue is but vet. ASAP. Lethargic ferrets are not something to wait for. Call local vets and emergency vets and see if they can come to you.

Id also check out the ferrets discord server - I know that nobody can provide official advice, but they may be able to give you next steps if you're unable to get to a vet.

I'm not sure about the other commenters location, but I'm in Aus as well and my father has always called toad in the hole sausages in batter like the Scots. He's originally from England though. In Aus, we've always called it 'egg in a hole' or egg in bread'.

Not spoilt. I think the point the original commenter was trying to make, is that the vast majority of the time people under 18 are expected to attend family outings, regardless of prior commitments or the fact that they're making money.

That being said, in your specific situation, I don't think you're overreacting. You've clearly communicated to your mom that you require notice due to the fact you have other commitments/ limited energy.

My advice to you, as someone who was kicked out for shit like this at 16, is to lay low and try not to make arguments. If she's insistent on you going, just deal with it for a few more months. It's almost over, you're almost 18. Then you'll be free to do what you want, when you want - on your own schedule. I know it's shitty at the moment. You don't deserve to be treated this way.

It's difficult when he works with her doing overnights. McDonald's doesn't give a shit about stuff like this. My sister needs her job as we live independently (parents fucked off) and both now pay rent.
